Remote Start

I have an 18' Silverado 1500 with the 1LT package. It did not come with the remote start, but from what I've read some people say my truck should have the parts already installed from the factory and that I would just need it to be "activated" by the dealer and to get a new key fob with the remote start button. Does anyone know if this is true? When I contacted my local dealer, they just said that it would be $275 to add the remote start "package". That seems somewhat steep just to simply activate a part that is already installed..

the hood latch has to be replaced and wired in , bcm programmed and the remotes. doesnt sound like a bad price alot of aftermarket systems are that much or more

Price the fobs at a dealer.

Doesn't seem $275 is crazy.

$275 for a warrantied dealer 'installed' remote start is well worth the money.

for sure, and they do it without cutting any wires or drilling any holes.

Cool, just wanted to get everyone's opinion. It was $275 for the activation.. I didn't get quoted for the fob. I'm guessing that would be another $200 or so?

No.  $275 is the parts kit which is the two fobs and the activation code.  GM books it at 0.6hrs to install so that would be calling in the activation, reprogramming any necessary modules and then the key fobs.  2018-2019 old body don't need the hood latch and wiring kit, only 2016-2017.
