Sure, you can absolute reduce emissions through tuning. But there is no egr system. It's not a diesel it has cats.

You are clueless my friend.

No, amazingly you are. And at somepoint down the road when it all clicks your going to turn beat red.

Not unfiltered to environment.

Your getting a little nit-picky here.

With the engine off, the only "gate keeper" separating the intake tract from ambient air is a fibrous air filter intentionally designed for the allowance of air to pass through.  The air filter does not exclusively segregate moisture from the air and therefore the air filter is not acting as a moisture check valve.

We're starting to split hairs and egos are diluting what could be a good knowledge base for others.  Fortunately though, great side-bar information is being tossed around here so hopefully this topic doesn't go off the rails.

It's Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It gets reintroduced to the combustion chamber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Correct via PCV system you said does not exist    6.2L

  • PCV-integrated rocker covers: new domed rocker covers house a patent-pending integrated positive crankcase ventilation system that enhances oil life, reduces oil consumption and reduces exhaust emissions. The domed sections of the covers contain baffles that separate oil and air from the crankcase gases, with about three times the oil/air separation capability of previous engines.

Not ego but fact.  Our friend Mickey state there is unfiltered air coming in via crankcase vents thats not positive. Just getting facts correct.

I said no such thing, anywhere. Wth are you even talking about.

Any pcv hose connects to the intake tube post filter.

Condensation forms from humidity in the air. The pcv system is open to the atmosphere, it's pulls air into the crankcase as well as venting excess pressure.

I don't disagree with you stating moisture getting past the rings, along with fuel. But the amount of water created by combustion is minimal, otherwise we'd all have steam cleaned piston tops.

The condensation build up in the can Im refering to, happens when the engine is not in operation.

You can take a look and see a little bit of coffee in the can right after you shut it off. The next morning you'll have some milk with your coffee.

Reminder of what started this Mickey.

Wow.  This is fun.  But I'm confused.  It really sounds like you're both saying that a Catch Can is NOT helpful, but for different reasons?  Or does one of you think that it is useful?  Just so that I can follow a little better.

Thanks!

Continue.

So your telling me that you think the filter keeps out atmospheric pressure?

I VOTE NOT USEFUL but not because Mickey and others are confused and keep doubling in and out on that  by sharing that there is unfiltered air with of water vapor coming into crankcase system from outside the engine via intake or associated vents.

Circling back if the engine is well tuned and properly maintained the need for a catch can is a waste of money.

You've outright failed to address my question regarding where your getting this idea if unfiltered air.

Own up to error like a man, or continue to throw around baseless words attempting to confuse everyone and paint the appearance that you know what your talking about.

I don't know what engine you have, but get off your ass and go look under the hood of your truck. Because I can tell your not even able form a picture in your head if what it actually looks like.

You can and are turning this into misinformation. Everything you've stated clearly indicates you don't have a clue if how your truck even operates.

Please continue. I'll wear the idiot crown if it will shut you up. But know your not hurting me, only yourself.
