I drove my 16 through 3 upstate ny winters and didn't get a single chip. seemed like great paint, especially compared to my 09 pontiac g8 which is babied and has never seen a winter and is chipped all over the hood.

In 1000 miles I haven’t noticed anything different paint wise over my 2010. I did have a clear bra installed on the front and part of the hood though.

About much did your clear bra cost?

I have a 2020 Sierra 1500 with about 4,000 miles on it and it easily has about three dozen rock chips already. That does not include all of the chips right behind the wheel wells towards to bottom of the body. I literally get about 10 new chips every time I drive on a dirt road. I have two F-150's before this with no noticeable issues. My truck is going to look horrible before winter even hits...

I'm actually quite impressed with the paint on my truck. A few weeks ago I discovered someone had hit the passenger door leaving a dent and a lot of blue paint, spent about 30 minutes cleaning it with WD-40 and a magic eraser to find there was no damage to the paint at all, still pissed off about the dent as whoever did it left but it's a lot less noticeable now the paint transfer is gone.

It’s interesting how different our experiences can be. I came from a 2016 F150 in Ruby Red (a beautiful color!) that had tons of small rock chips on the bumper and hood. I noticed they started appearing with low miles and never stopped getting worse. I now have a 2019 Sierra in Dark Sky with very very few chips after over 6,000 miles.

I don’t know if different colors are more durable or what, but the paint on my Sierra is very impressive compared to my F150.

You guys are making me feel like more of an idiot now for getting the pearl tricoat...I was hoping my case was some kind of one-off. I have been noticing more and more imperfections lately plus what seem to be sharp bumps in the paint. I did get the clear mask and ceramic coat but the installer did a very deplorable job that will need corrected.

Ceramic coating isn't as great as some have been led to believe.
