Taking truck to dealer Monday

Now that you mention the oil stuff I'm wondering if I caused this...

I bought the truck used with 53k miles on it, one owner - regular maint on car fax. Truck was bone stock.

I got to doing some research and saw that this engine was DI so I bought some seafoam intake cleaner and did that through the throttle body.

About a week later I did it again with CRC brand then changed my oil. I'm wondering if I dislodged something and its blocking that screen or if that's even possible? My current oil only has about 2000 miles on it. I used 0w-20 full syn with a wix filter. The truck drives fine, when I heard the clicking I didn't have any CEL's or missing. Just the clicking sound during each revolution. It stopped a few days ago but the 5wks I've owned the truck it has run smooth on the highway. Even after disabling v4 I'm avg about 20mpg which I thought was good for a full size 4wd.

That is possible. Especially if you have excessive "Blow By". I also did SeaFoam on my truck and soon after I had the same issue. I also did a Throttle body swap which is why I initially thought it was the throttle body. Going from 87mm to 95mm is a big jump. I'm wondering if that was the reason too. Mine resulted in a few Bent pushrods, lifters collapsed and eventually why I did this build.

I'm thinking about just dumping the truck and getting something else. Overall the truck is nice and looks great inside/out but I'm not dealing with motor issues at 56k miles.

I don't blame you. I felt the same way. I ended up thinking well, I don't have a payment so I could finance another truck and eventually go through the same sh$t or... Spend a little less and get the truck/performance vehicle I've always wanted.  It's all leather, heated/cooled seats, all the options for a Denali and I can always upgrade the electronics to current standards (which I still need to do).

I'm not saying it's for everyone. Sometimes it's the best "out"!

Is it possible this noise could be the fuel injectors? I'm a member of a GM facebook group and several guys there say they have researched the noise themselves and with dealer techs and they said the noise is the injectors.

Depends on how loud the *Tick* is, if it's all over or just one side.

If you stood in front of your open engine bay blindfolded with the engine running could you point in one direction where the sound is coming from or does it sound like it's just radiating all over.

The lifter/pushrod sound, when a lifter fails, sounds a lot like if you took a plastic pen and tapped it very hard on a counter top.

FYI you can always remove your valve cover and press on the rocker arm to test if you have a lose one. see below.

Here is a video look at (.30) time it's exactly what the tick sounds like.

I don't believe that's what mine sounds like, I'll try to get a video next time. Mine may be fuel injectors, I've never had a misfire code.

That is not the same engine that looks like a truck gen 4.

Correct. It was to portray the sound of a ****ed lifter. If his doesn't sound like that it's probably the injectors.

That’s what I would do unless I had the option to extend the warranty.  Alternatively, mess around with it and just recognize that you probably have a big repair bill coming.  The money is probably not an issue since the repair and driving a used truck is still probably cheaper than driving new, but it’s the hassle of dealing with it that I would want to avoid.  If you keep it, start looking for a good repair shop that isn’t the dealer.  That alone will save you serious money if you experience internal engine failure.
