GDI Cleaner Spray

Recommended Posts

This may be a dumb question, but I'm asking anyway.

I have a catch can on my engine (5.3) and every oil change, I spray a can of CRC in. I typically spray it into the intake tube just past the MAF, but that's a pain.

Can I spray it in the return line (side exit) of my catch can setup? Seems like it would work the same and be a lot easier.

NO NO NO. Please do not. That is how you can easily blow the engine.
Some guys did that with the older engines with the brake booster line. Fluid would go to driver rear cylinder more and break a rod.
Spray after maf into the intake with truck idling or little higher rpm.

Tons of people spray it in the return line going into the side of the intake. I’ve done it multiple times and no issues

also with the brake booster line on older vehicles. That’s the recommended way to do it. I’ve seafoamed countless automobiles over the years and no issues.

The problem with that is that they’d stick the line directly into some sort of liquid, so it would literally just be sucking out 100% liquid with no air

a spray can is not risky
