Washing in between bed and cab

A couple of us were debating this morning on the best way to wash between the cab and bed.  I made a sponge with a stick to reach all the way down to the bottom.  Obviously the best way is to remove the bed, but that might be getting a little too  What do you guys use?

Nothing

Just spray some water down there.

Also i rarely wash the roof of my truck cause it is a PITA.  No one can see the roof hehe

I just spray some water down in there too.

For the roof, I just stand on my tool box, plus I have a step ladder that I use sometimes too.

I just sprayed water down there too when I had a truck.  And I stood in the back to wash the roof.  With my Blazer I just open a door and stand there to wash the roof then close the door and rinse.

I don't even bother trying to clean between there, I just spray some water in there.  As for the roof, I get in the bed and spray it then lay on the roof to scrub it or use the brush attachment on the washer if it isn't too dirty.

Reason this came up was, a guy I work with just bought a black Z.  He went muddin' this weekend and got tons of red clay all over.  He tried spraying water to get the clay off, but still has lots of reddish brown streaks that isn't coming off easily.  He tried several brushes, but all were to thick to fit.  We sort of had a side bet going that no one else ever cleans that area.

Hey Ryan, I'm with you on washing the wheelwells!  I've found that it you wash them every time you wash the truck they're alot easier to keep clean and it just takes a few extra seconds to do it.  Heck-I even keep the leaf springs and the part of the frame you can see around the rear wheels washed off. :lookaround:

But....I've never even tried to wash between the cab & bed!!

I clean my wheelwells at each wash.  Since we have a very sloping driveway, you can see the entire undercarriage of my truck, so I give it a wash everytime.  Guess I'm just too anal.

I spray out the whellwells good everytime I wash mine too.  I'm not in much mud very often so just spraying them usually does the trick.  But every now and then I go ahead a scrub them with a brush to make sure.

I think most, if not all of us are anal about keeping our truck clean.  Wheelwells are a definate must for cleaning.

Have you tried a dustmop?  Also, have you tried to access this area from under the truck?

I made a tool to get behind the cab and bed.  It is basically a sponge with a stick.  Attach the hose and it flows water through the sponge.  Pretty simple.  I'll have to post a couple of pics of it.  Not have very good luck posting pics at the moment.  I don't really think I want to wash from under the truck.  If I remember right the fuel tank and the muffler are in the way anyhow, so you would be limited by the space you can wash from underneath (plus you would probably get a little wet :) ).

Since the wheelwells and frame are exposed, imho it looks pretty bad if you don't clean under there.

Usually able to get 1 sponge length down between the bed/cab, also use the "open the door" and hold the "oh sh*t" handle to wash the roof, then close and rinse.
