Check engine light just came on. 2003 silverado, 5.3 engine 69000 miles

either get a code reader to check the codes yourself, or go to a parts store/mechanic and get them to read the codes (they may do it for free or charge you).  If you decide to get a code reader, I suggest getting a more advanced one than the most basic, cheapest one available, as more advanced ones can get codes from your transmission computer(tcm), abs system, air bag system (srs), body computer (BCM), and more.
