GMC Ram air hack?

Looking over my engine compartment trying to locate a place to put a catch can when I noticed something.

The cutout in the hood that gives it that little grin has a plastic molded piece that blocks it off and seals it via a gasket.

Right behind that area is a space where the stock air intake bets its air from and it is also sealed off via a gasket on the hood.

In this void where the air intake is are louvers that look down on the area in front of the radiator, and I got to thinking.

If you took of the molded plastic piece from under the hood and blocked off the top area above the louvers it would create a ram air effect at highway speeds and Im tempted to give this a try.

Anyone ever done this?

Anyone see any glaring faults with this idea?

If your trying to do it like the HD trucks and just open up the space you could get water in your intake.

I had thought about that.

A small depression in front of the airbox intake with small drainage holes would solve that.
