Great, I wondered about the timing of the CNET article.  It was posted 21 hours ago.

Info has been out for several days...even on tv news.

An explosive device is used to tighten seatbelt in a crash.

Heat exhausted can exit thru a hole and ignite carpeting.

Fix includes an additional / different bracket to keep the exhaust away from the carpet.

$3700 for ceramic coating. Holy hell that is ridiculous - no way there can be that level of value there. Great looking truck though, love mine!

Agreed great looking rig but that is highway robbery for a ceramic coating.

I was surprised at the difference a fully corrected/polished black truck looks. It also had a ceramic coating put on.

That said, I would probably end up doing the job myself next time because I actually enjoy that type of work. I ended up paying my detailer $1600 and he spent about 2 days working on my truck.

Also, think of ceramic coating as a long-term wax/hydrophobic wax coating and not much else. It’s not going to magically prevent swirl marks or scratches especially on black paint. What it will do is make washing your truck a hell of a lot easier.

If it is similar to the "Symtech" package in Canada, you get a lot more than just a ceramic coating. Comes with full Scotchguard in the interior, covers your paint for 8 years as mentioned (was 4 years when I bought it), a rip/burn/tear interior warranty, electronic rust prevention module and some other small things. You can drop a cigarette on your seat and they will pay to fix it. I had my whole box repainted through the Symtech program 8 months after the coverage expired as it started peeling at the wheel wells on a truck that rarely left pavement. Awesome company and coverage, I wont buy another GM without that package. I would post a picture of my 2015 with ceramic coating, but I don't want to hijack the thread. Looks brand new to this day.
