I ain't blowed up an engine in the last 15-20 years running wix filters from Napa, don't see that changing anytime soon.
Stats this and stats that, big deal. Run good oil, change it often and you'll be just fine.
At the end of the day, A, B or C you'll be fine. A (the one that replaced the R filters) will work on non R (B) applications. You just don't want to use a non R (B) on an R (A) application. So like the 3.6 V6 LGX in the Acadia, XT5, XT6, Blazer and Camaro, or the 3.0TT V6 in the Cadillacs, you do NOT want to use what was the blue PF63 (now PF63B). You have to use the UPF63R black (now PF63A) filter due to the oil pressure those engines create on cold start that can burst a regular PF63.
Once the dust settles on the supplier changes hopefully they can clear it all up and simplify things back to how they were.
