Heated Steering Wheel - well, kinda.

Anyone else find the 'heated' steering wheel does not perform well?

my 2015 LTZ steering wheel gets warm and within seconds, but then cools down to Luke warm shortly thereafter.

My wife's 2016 Envision has a heated wheel and it works great

is this normal for the Burbans?

My 2019's steering wheel gets HOT but most of the heat is concentrated in the 5:00 and 7:00 positions, if you imagine the steering wheel to be a clock with 12:00 at the very top and 6:00 at the very bottom.

It seems to me that this is where the heating elements are located, and then they rely upon a sort of conductive material to transfer the heat to the rest of the wheel.

I mentioned this to my wife and she said that it's probably a good idea because it lets the driver decide how hot they want their hands to be, considering there is just an ON/OFF button selection with no heat levels to choose from.

I'm satisfied with it but I was a bit confused with it at first.  I somewhat expected it to be about the same temperature throughout the entirety of the wheel.  This isn't rare though and you'll read plenty of posts describing the same as I have.

I would agree that it's quite underwhelming.

The heated steering wheel is great.  Even though it is not an even temperature throughout the entire 360 degrees of the steering wheel, which is unusual, it does get so warm so much that I think that the aluminum trim on the steering wheel feels ice cold.

It's one of those luxuries that you never knew was so great until you finally had it, even with its quirks of not being an even temperature throughout the wheel.  The same goes for heated seats!

I've never had leather seats before and will be interested to try out the cooled/ventilated function this upcoming summer.  Oh, and the sun roof, too!

I agree.  It gets very warm!  But the warmest spots are at 5:00 and 7:00 if you visualize the steering wheel as a 12 hour clock.

Here's a new observation today.  I believe the longer that the heated steering wheel is on, the more even the temperature gets throughout the entirety of the wheel.  But definitely when you first turn it on, or if you only turn it on for short periods of time, you will feel that it is definitely warmer at the 5:00 and 7:00 positions.  I still believe that the heating elements are located in these two locations which is why they heat up more initially, and then that heat spreads to the rest of the wheel over time.

I paid attention yesterday but it seemed to me the heat  was consistantly the same all the way around the wheel. It be nice know what is actually  is underneath there and where  it is. It be my senses are not strong enough to tell the difference. Who knows. If i find out more ill post

The longer it is on the more even the temperature becomes for sure.  I normally don't use it all that long so that was probably why initially I claimed that the heat was uneven.
