Just out of curiosity: How did a dumb question about whether ditching my current AT's for street tires would help my fuel economy turn into a pissing match about which tire is better in the sand?

Correcting FAKE NEWS, same with saying BFG KO2s hydroplane.  That is an even bigger whopper than the sand one.

I would look at the original equipment tires first and any others that were optional or could have come on your vehicle.  The manufacturer chose these because they helped maximize MPGs.

I am sure plenty of people on here would be willing to sell you some P-rated Goodyear SRA's for dirt cheap haha.

That's the biggest thing, if your running a LT D or E load, going back to a P rated highway tire will net you 1.5-2MPG. I lost about 3-4mpg with my 6.2L when I put wide 33's on.

The Nittos are E rated and weigh in at 53 pounds.

The "highway friendly" tires in the same size that I am looking at are in the 41-43 lb. range.

I have to imagine that dropping 10+ pounds of rolling mass per corner is going to help with climbing a 500 foot grade every time I leave/come back to my neighborhood. ?

The two I suggested earlier are about 36 pounds. My WT came with 255/70R17. Also 36 pounds. The factory steel wheel and Bridgestone Dueler came in a 63 total.

Just providing a point of reference. Not making a recommendation.

I heard a pleasant story today whose conclusion was that we are nothing more than mirrors.

1 Corinthians 4:7 For who makes you different from another? Indeed, what do you have that you did not receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not receive it?

Humbling thought me thinks. What do we know that we did not learn from another? We learn much from observation. To whom will we credit as teacher?

The perfect all season tire for our trucks is the summitomo encounter ht

everybody has an opinion and nobody will care about this post since there is so many of them.

The performance of wet traction, dry traction, road noise, mpg, snow traction, is everything I could ask for.. It also happens to be one of the cheapest tires you can buy for it.

Bought a set of these, stock size, in September for my 2016 Sierra. $94/each on Walmart.com, and they were the #2 rated tire on Tire Rack at the time behind only the Michelin Defender. Didn't have them installed until mid December because I didn't need to. Great tire for what I need.

Picked up a set of p-rated street tires in 275/55 today that come in at 11 pounds lighter than my current "offroad" tires.

I'll update the change in fuel mileage after I put on 1000 miles for the next schmuck that digs up this thread in a search.
