kwOH Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 I know there is a lot of info out there on this subject, but heres my experience. I was driving my truck just like any other normal day, to the car wash, grab a bite to eat, stop by the grocery store, and then, when I was about to make a sharp right turn into my driveway, truck shuts off completely, I wouldn’t have even realized it had turned off, if the windshield wipers didn’t come on randomly, it shut completely off, but then came right back on. I decided to drive it around some more, and see if I could get it to do it again, drove around town for about 20 mins, came back, nothing had happened again, so I thought it was a fluke, but then again, turning into my driveway, sharp right turn, shut down, no power, this time, I had to restart it. Next step, I take it across the street to Advanced Auto, to have my, new of last year battery checked, and also the alternator, guy says battery is good, but the alternator is charging high, 15.0-15.3, so I looked into that a little, most info I found says 15 is ok for these trucks in the winter, so I wasn’t convinced, but slapped a new alternator just because. After I get the alternator on, I drove it around town for about 30 mins, making a lot of tight turns, even doing circles in a nearby gravel parking lot. Nothing happened. The weekend passed, I didn’t drive the truck for a few days, then I decided to take it to pick up some carpet, drive all the way across town to the home improvement store, pull into the parking spot, get out, and hit the lock button on the key fob, no power. After about 2 mins, the power comes back, so I start it up and drive it right to the dealership, where it currently still sits waiting for them to get to it. I am not highly trained, but my opinion is, it has to be a loose ground or bad wire, something along that line. I checked the ground under the dash, but due to tight space and no lift, I really couldn’t check much underneath. Questions? Info? Suggestions?

tlaw91 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I think the new bolt is a M10 1.5 and it’s short its only an inch long. The new negative cable will be longer then your old one. It mounts to a hole in front of the starter it goes under the positive cable. Remove your passenger wheel well and you’ll be able to see all of itSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

tlaw91 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I’d love to give you way more info on it but I’m not at work and don’t have one torn town to give you pics on where it goes. Don’t quote me on the bolt size though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

tlaw91 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 NoJust go to the dealer and give them the VIN.Catalog will populate with latest numbers for both. FYI-When you look at the cable on the diagram it shows first design cable with the old bolt. They do not update the picture for the new design. They also do not have a new part number for the new bolt, which is highly irritating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
