Map SD card not recognized after reinsertion

Help! I pulled out the SD card in the slot in my console to see what it was. Apparently it is the map data. I reinserted it but now it tells me that the "SD card has been removed" or some such nonsense. I know it was removed. I also know it was replaced. It does know that part though. How do I make it read the card and stop giving me the error?

Also, why is this on an SD card? That is super lame to not store it locally on a SSD.

What size is the SD card and how is it formatted?

It needs to be formatted in FAT32, 32gig is the max a Windows computer can format in FAT32. If it is larger than 32gig you may have to use a 3rd party program to format it in FAT32.

Most likely, reformatting the SD card will not fix the problem, as O.P. stated he removed the card and then reinserted it, and will make it worse, in that it would wipe the map data off the card as part of reformatting.

Was the key on/truck on when you removed it? If so, that can damage and corrupt the map data.

Check the lock tab on the left side of the card. Make sure its in the UP position. Before removing it again to check this, shut the truck off, open the driver's door and let it power down for a minute or two. Then remove it, check the tab, then re-insert the card. After re-inserting the card, only then turn the igntion on and see what happens.
