Was looking under my brand new 2020 Silverado and noticed this indent on these pipes.. this normal?

Yes, guessing you have a 6.2?

 

Done for clearance, GM says it has no ill effects. But it is a WTF moment when you first see it.

that has to be blocking some air flow. I dont think its gobbing tons of HP but thats it for sure airflow disturbance.

Not really.  A round pipe pressed into an oval still has the same internal cross-section area.

They do make them this way these days as that's known as hydroforming. You could ask the dealer to be sure next time you're by there and see what their response is. 

 

Was watching something on TV the other day and had something about hydroforming on with today's automobiles. Pretty cool if you ask me. Google it or search on YouTube and you'd be surprised.

Yes sir, perfectly normal. You should have seen the pipes under my Camaro 2SS. I was amazed when I first seen them look like that.
