Muffler delete vs swap vs cat back

I have deleted the main muffler and covered resonator screens on my 2019 and am very happy with the results. Since after the cats we have a small resonator, the main muffler, and then the main screen resonators a delete seemed the most economical. I want to get long tubes and then do a full custom 3" with high flow cats, but I have way to many other projects that i leave in the middle of. I also have a 2018 and have done the same thing; muffler and resonator delete and weld in 3" replacement pipe. The helicopter sounds on the 18 are noticable but not a problem, and on the 19, since we have DFM, the exit out the rear has mitigated 90% of the helicopter sounds.

Well..lol... I hated the gibson since it turned brown and looked awful so I put the stock pipes on with the muffler delete. I dis like that more than the gibson.  At 1st I thought it was good but no, theres no drone but at low speeds it sounds awful and at start up it's stupid loud.  So that brings me to where I'm at now and it's with a borla kit. Hopefully that's the right move...!

Not to toot my own horn but the borla s-type fit really nice, couldn't of went on any more perfect. The finish is even super nice.  Also sounds incredible..! To me it's well worth the money.

Was it just a muffler swap or the whole car back?

The whole cat back.

Funny I was just looking at that system and a special going on now. Have a 20 Trailboss 6.2 and way too quite. Looked at atak muffler but did not want excessive sound. So how is it in cab and when DFM kicks in?

I just did a swap for a Borla Pro XS, left the flapper and resonators alone. Got a nice subtle rumble and when cruising it’s quiet in the cab and no drone. Gets louder WOT which is what I was looking for. $160 overall do not too bad.

I dont have dfm, I have afm since mines a custom 5.3 with a 6spd. I have a range disabler for that so I just have v8 sound. Mines only a 5.3, I dont think they have an atak catback for it. So I choose a s type and its plenty loud enough with no drone and mild in cab noise. Cruise is almost stockish sounding.

Yeah I hate cutting a part new things. Do you have a 5.3 or 6.2? Also assume you cut the stock muffler on both sides? Did nor find an adapter from muffler to tailpipes.  $160 is better than $1000 for cat back. Granted a little different but I need a little noice

It’s a 5.3 and there was only 1 muffler that ends up with 2 tailpipes. Not sure what the 6.2 has. No adapter needed since it was cut the same length as the stock muffler and then just welded on.

By chance you got a video clip of the sound? When I had that same muffler installed, I had the flapper cut out as ended up taping the resonator. There was a bit of drone... and it honestly didnt sound all that better... well, when you get on the throttle I guess it did...lol. that's probably what affected my gas mileage... jumping on the gas more so I can hear the exhaust lol.

Thanks for replying. BTW early for you.

So I assume it sounds better without that massive factory tin can. Lol

Yeah it’s a subtle increase with a deep tone. Great rumble for cold starts. I have a video of the cold start but can’t upload it here and I don’t have a YouTube account. If you know a simple way to share I’ll send it.

If you're on Facebook, there are several groups dedicated to the 2019 and up Silverado and Sierras. Maybe you can try there?

Yeah a little early lol. Definitely a whole lot better. I didn’t want anything loud or drone and this was the right amount of tone.
