You seem to think people are willing to sacrifice lives to open. It’s the opposite, opening to save lives, property, and a way of life.

So your saying people are going to die regardless. We just need to choose the instrument of death. Can you quantify the number of dead based on the "let her rip" tool so we can make an informed decision? You can dramatize it but you can't quantify it. No one can.

Ya think that matters more to the dead or the living?

Cruel fact:

The dead don't care and those certain of living don't care.

Only those without a choice do.

We live in a world were humans are willing to kill each other for a $ or for morsel of food. Think about how sad that is. Why? Because we have a choice to do other. The bug isn't handing out hall passes. It has its preferences but unleased...………….no 'other'....

And we've come full circle again.

The 30 somethings are willing to sacrifice the 65+.

Without a choice.

How noble of them.

Can you just imagine in your mind that people who want to stay home can? Every here of choice? Remember what people fought for and died for? How this country was founded? You act like there’s a choice where no one dies. Their is non. Oil just went to less than zero. There are countries that’s their only revenue. If something doesn’t change this bug is going to be nothing in comparison. It’s very short sighted to believe we can do this another month. We’re way past let it rip. The only thing ripping is our way of life. I’m just wondering how close to you it’s has to get until you see it. I sacrifice every day I worked to provide for my family. Most people do. They want the chance to do it again. If. You. Want. To. Stay. Home. No. One. Is. Stopping. You.

I’m curious. You’ve been throwing numbers around. Telling people their evil who state what they’ll do. They don’t care about loss of life What exactly would you do? And explain how we come back from from what ever extended what ever you proposed. How many being unemployed is ok. We’re just 4 percent under the Great Depression now. With oil going to zero we may be there, globally. Make it simple so us stupid people understand. Waiting.

No, I don’t believe that. I guess he really believes there’s a way out without deaths. The reality is we function with acceptable loss. There’s way too many examples of that. This was a flattened the curve exercise. Now we open and hope we keep the curve flat and don’t overwhelm the hospitals. Zero deaths not possible.

I NEVER EVER said zero death was possible.

It's a disease for crying out load.

Get a grip, the bunch of you.

:wtf:

I said almost the same thing you are saying. MINIMIZE DEATH by a measured careful deliberate reentry AFTER  stabilization at a level the PREVENTS NEEDLESS DEATH. Adjust as required in response to the FACTS and not the fear of what might be. Our major difference is in what is an acceptable devastation of life to preclude devastation of commerce.

I've seen the meal lines. I've seen allot of really expensive vehicles in those lines driven by people in very expensive clothing. I've seen businesses taking 'Federal Wage Protection Money' meant to keep the bottom 1/3 afloat that had no need to do so and did, just because they can. That's not 'love your neighbor", that's grab and greed.

Most of my life has been quite blessed. Some of it was not. I've lived in my car and in abandon falling over, could throw a cat through the walls garages in sub zero weather when I lost even the car. I've taken a few meals out of the trash and lived with what should have been seen by a doctor.  I've NEVER taken a food stamp or a dime I didn't earn.  I've eaten crap that would make a billy goat puke. Homeless, sick and hungry is NOT the worse thing that can happen to you. I'm not feeling the pain of anyone loosing a business or

selling your Escalade to buy food. One of my best friends was on the street with his sub teen daughter for almost a year. He'd go 5 days at a time without food so his girl could eat what little he could scrounge at least once a day.  He picked himself back up and became a business owner. He's just lost it all again and he will tell you straight up, this is STILL paradise compared to the part of Mexico he grew up in. My grandfather came here from devastated Germany with a $20 bill, a few cigars and one change of cloths. Didn't even speak English. Built a well to do hog farm to loose it all in 29 to greedy people. Picked himself up and did it again. Living with the hogs was better than bombed our Berlin. These people cherish life FIRST.

Grumps,

Take a looks see at Sweden...relaxed technique for COVID-19.  Sure it outpaces on on MR front vs it's neighbors it's all grand experiment really.  Do you know what the other side looks like for Sweden with the "let er burn" through population experiment?  I don't either but I will fathom a guess that it will probably look better than a Lockdown/Mitigated approach for months on end until economic hole/collapse is so large/vast it has swallowed everyone/everything including your SSI check?  Let's get honest about this virus.....after the USA hits 50K dead....it will fall flat on it's face and require much time to hit the 60k.

Does there really need to be a 3/4 human Plexiglas shield around the self checkout at your local Home Depot?  Grumps....None of that crap matters when I been picking my nose for the last 60 miles on  the hwy and decide to stop at Home Depot and buy some HVAC filters and rub my nasty little digits all over the screen/kepad etc.  Subsequently, your next in line "lucky you" but your gloved up,masked up even cleanup up shower and shaved so no worries and you fondle all of the virus laden surfaces I had just touched!  YUM, and YUMMY!  Your smart though and smarter than the rest!  Job is almost complete as you bought your plumbing fitting and did it all SAFELY!  Time to get in "OL" PEPPER......OH.....I am taking this crap off before hopping in PEPPER!  So you doffed the mask, gloves etc. and transferred or should I say...SMEARED the virus laden units all over the mask from your gloves.  No worries you have a Ziplock bag in Pepper for your mask...put the mask in her and sealed up that ol virus real good and transferred the units to your skin.  Not to mention preserved those little guys for happy overnight stay too!

Here comes the good part!  Within the next 30 minutes you will have transferred the virus units all over Pepper and your face because you will have touched your face 15x in  the half hour ride home.  Keep your hands clean always...break the chain son!  Let's get the people back to work and have little less FEAR you can board an airplane it's OK.  Same with GDI engines keep em clean!

I know that I'm leaning out of the window very far, but we could be up and running by now. IF we had shut everything down 6-8 weeks ago.

The "let it rip" approach doesn't cut it for me. Neither does the "wash your hands and keep your distance". It's all just a delay.

I have half of my crew sitting at home for 5 weeks now. The general reason is that they're scared to get back into the pool. No end in sight with this "let's drag it out" mentality of our government.

Customers are screaming for our service and I have to say "sorry, can't do it" because I don't have the man power.

Those customers also have no choice other than keep going because they'd loose business and wouldn't have any work to come back to, when this is over.

I myself have done seven jobs for the city today. All different crews with at least 3 crew members. Plus the hired back hoe operator and a two man vacuum truck crew. I came in contact with at least 42 people today. That's fu**ing insane!

Do I have a choice? Yes and no. I could say "screw it, I'm staying home". But what then? Waiting it out for another 6 weeks? Or 18 months?

What happens after that? Looking for a new job?

My brother in law decided not to relocate and take a half his pay cut. With a company he’s worked 30 years for. Why? He would be making less after taxes than unemployment. If I they get busy and hire him back. It would be close to the pay before unemployment. If he stayed they could only increase at a percentage from his current pay. To move him back in the field. It also looks better on his resume. Messed up.

I don't know sh*t about health care and medicine. All I know is that when my urine is dark I need to drink more water.

Am I scared?
No.
I think that I have a strong immune system. If anything, I'll get the dreaded man-flu once in a while lol.

But what about my co-workers and friends?

I have to rely on the "experts". But so far, they haven't convinced me of their capability.

    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
    • The turn signal/multifunction switch is faulty.  I've seen a few of these go bad at work.
    • I am experiecing the same issue, I have gone in the setting and disabled rain sensing function but I am still experiencing this. Whe i use my turn signal they will redomly turn on. Sometime they stay on and others times we swipe 2 or 3 times and stop. Its super anoying, escpecially after a fresh wash. Anyone have any advice? . rain-sensing function, but I am still experiencing this issue Sometimes they stay on, and other times we swipe 2 or 3 times and stop. It's super annoying, especially after a fresh wash. When I use my turn signal, they will randomly turn on. I am experiencing the same issue. I have gone into the settings and disabled the rain sensing function, but I am still experiencing this.
    • If we actually used any significant amount of that source in the USA then I'd agree but we don't. We've had that discussion before. We drill and pump more than we use. Thing is, we sell. We export. Gas and Crude. It's more profitable so any shortage here is self inflicted and LEGAL.    I worked a gas plant that has multiple fuel sources available and I worked in the furnace and boiler plant in that facility. I'd had days we swapped fuel types four times in a twelve hour shift which isn't done on supply but on margin. Two of the fuel sources are internally generated. Tail gas and DAK, both of which are sold as well a consumed. We always had more than we needed to run the process but we chose the fuel that produced the best margin not bought at the cheapest price always. A good bit of math to that and back in the time that was done on a slide rule.     I worked the Shale Oil Semiworks of Chevron Research and CONOCO Research in Salt Lake City. That process never went into production although it was very successful. Why? Did we lack oil bearing shale? Nope. Price of crude never made the margins work. That was in the late 70's early 80's. Remember history? What was happening then was a reaction to that situation. It didn't drive it. If so then it's easy. This isn't a supply and demand thing. This is a profit and margin thing and AI rules that now.    In no refining situation that I was ever in would a bomb hitting a well anywhere in the world 'instantly' interrupt or even distress the supply. Most plants have more than a months worth of crude in the tank field and more in pumping stations. That yo-yo could play out over days, weeks and maybe months and have zero impact on plant operations. How many times has this been off and on in the last few months? These people and not stupid. These plants measure down time in hundreds of thousands of dollars per day. They are not sucking fumes or waiting on the next truckload with baited breath. Besides, as I noted, they are for the most part 'vertically integrated'. They own it from the dirt is sits in to the delivery rack and sometimes to the pump. It has a HUGE shock absorber built in. When production suffers, refining wins and when refining is winning exploration is killing. The rest of that crap in the news is a 'news cycle'. Government dipping in to reserves? Oil is stealing their milk money. There's a reason Chevron abandon Venezuela infrastructure and it had nothing to do with security of US citizens. Nationals run those plants. it has to do with MARGINS disappearing to corruption. They are in no hurry to return. Is there supply there? Oh yea. More than enough to offset what is bought in the middle east. Just isn't ???? Profitable.    We have supply. There are places in Illinois you can drive a pipe into the ground and run your homes natural gas furnace on it.    A refinery fire will gum up the supply works but not a localized war where the market is using a limited supply from. Now Europe, that's something other....
