Thanks all, I have ordered a cargo bar.

I did look at altering the existing gate, but it was almost 8 inches too short.

Was leaning towards the 2x6 or 2x8 solution but with the bed being wider than it is long, storing it out of use would have been an issue.

Hoping an adjustable bar works well for the best of both worlds.

I would love to find one too. First time owning a truck, Got a 2020 Sierra AT4. A friend has a dodge RAM and they have ridges all through the side walls of the bed where a spring loaded divider wedges. you can adjust it to whatever depth you like. Didn't think that far and liked Sierra more than Ram. Now I can't find anything similar.

The only thing I have found is a U shaped bed extender kind of divider.

This looks fantastic. I may have to do this myself!

Yes I did this to my 2017 Sierra ... do you happen to have the measurements for the new body style ... would like to do it to my 2020 Silverado .. I guess I could measure but if you have the cut length that would be awesome for many...

can't think of a way to hinge it and still be sturdy enough to stay in place.

For a 2 piece design just hiinge the section of  at the top not the side.

Copied Ryno12s idea with the 2x6 lumber.

Cut the center  of the long cross board and added a 4'" door hinge on the font side.

Push to front to fold out and pull to rear to fold in.

The short legs against to tailgate and the long ends against the wheel wells keep it in place

Fold ups and stows nicely in the truck when not needed.

Simple but functional modification... I used two 2x6’s

As someone said before, a ratcheting cargo bar works good.

If you plan on adding a bed cover, look into a roll-n-lock. The make a cargo divider similar to the one you have that works with the cover, slides and rotates out of the way.

I've got the Roll N Lock cover and cargo manager. It is going to cost you around $260 to $290 for the cargo manager but it works great. I have a couple of folding crates that I bungie to the cargo manager for groceries. When I get home I just carry in the crates.
