Xm in truck without XM

This is a dead horse I feel, but I finally got my 20 LT TB. Without the leaky rear slider thus without Factory XM. I bought the infotainment unit, it didn’t come with installation instructions and was somewhat of a headache, you have to remove the power supply directly next to it under passenger dash behind glove box. In order to be able to pull down infotainment brain, infotainment provides you with a aftermarket xm antenna, I didn’t want this tacky antenna stuck to my roof, so I bought the oem fin with onstar and satelite radio built in, also an sm extension antenna wire, I pulled the handle off the a pillar, took visor and brackets off, pulled door weatherstripping down, used a box to hold down headliner just enough to get wrench in with 10mm socket, removed hardware for fin, installed new fin with xm wire, router extension wire down a pillar under dash, to infotainment brain just installed, I now have essentially factory xm radio without any unsightly aftermarket antenna

I'll never understand buying a cheaper model only to spend time effort and energy AND money to add back what you didnt buy in the first place.

If it saved him a $1,000-2,000 for not having a package, it's worth it to me. Not being able to pick and choose exact options anymore does kinda suck.

As he said, he wanted to avoid the leaking rear window so he had to do without XM. Come in the same package.

That’s exactly right onthereel, I wanted everything in that package except for the problematic leaky rear window, granted I’m sure not everyone has the issue, I need my vehicle, I can’t afford to leave it sit at the dealer for 60 or 75 days, or want a brand new truck with copious amounts of clear silicone packed around window because they can’t figure out where it’s leaking, so yes to the other posters I BOUGHT AN LT TRAILBOSS WITHOUT XM RADIO,

I didnt think it was possible but I just built a base LT TB and it indeed does not have XM. I guess they changed this for 2020.

What did the whole process set you back? Also is that the 7" or 8" display or was stock 7" now you have 8"?

As does my SR5. I thought this was a change for all the T1s, though (i.e. changed in 2019, not 2020).

That would be more complicated as there’s no hole for fin antenna in roof

It says I have 8” radio, but I’m not real sure, I didn’t do anything with screen
