2019 GM performance air filter

Hello, new here. There might be a post on this and my apologies in advance if so. I have 2019 AT4 with the 6.2l with performance pack that included the air intake system. Took my truck for it's first oil change and the dealer (where I did not buy it from) they told me they couldn't service the filter or clean it....wtf?! Any direction how I go about cleaning it would greatly be appreciated Thank you.

They don’t clean them because you have to rinse them in warm water and let them air dry. That’s just to much time for them. They’ll just try to sell you a new one most of the time. But you only need to clean it every 10k miles. Rinse in warm water, massage the filter and just let it air dry for 2-3 hours and put back on.

Do you happen to know the part number for the replacement filter.  I've looked everywhere and can't find it.

 

Also assuming these are non oiled filters if doing the clean and dry method?

 

For cleaning, are you just taking warm soapy water and then rubbing off the outside and inside and trying to "squeeze" a little while doing so?

I ordered a replacement filter for GM's Performance Air Intake from GM Parts Direct.  While I have the 5.3L, I believe the air filter element is the same one that is used on the 6.2L, but the GM Parts Direct website should be able to confirm that.  Here's the ordering information from GM Parts Direct for the filter my truck uses (as of 12 months ago):

I doubt washing a dry paper filter would turn out well.  My plan is that when I approach the 20,000 mile recommended replacement mark I will closely inspect it, and use a vacuum to see if I can extend its life, and if not, put the replacement in.  Since I don't live or drive in dusty conditions, I believe I can get more miles out of mine.

To my knowledge the GM performance filter isn't cleanable.  It is replacement only.  I was lucky enough to grab 2 extra filters that AMSOIL offered before they discontinued them.  Now that I have 25k on the truck, I already replaced the GM with the AMSOIL and have a spare.  Stinks that AMSOIL stopped making their air filters.  If I knew they were going to stop I would have gotten more.  They were less expensive than the GM filter.

 

When the time comes, I'm gong to shop around for another replacement.  If I can find one from like aFe that is less then GM then I will go that route.

I replaced mine at 40k after cleaning it once. Easy to do.
