2020 2500HD 4x4 help please!!

I trying to figure out if I have a problem, my 2020 custom at idle would make a sucking(hissing) noise coming from around the tachometer. You could only hear it with everything off and with a little RPM it would get louder then go away with a little more RPM.

I traded the truck after 3 months this week for a LT diesel and it does the same thing. Don’t know if it’s just the tachometer or a vacuum leak. Service dept says never heard of that problem but wanted me to bring it in so I can show it to them.

Can anyone take a listen at their truck and see if it does the same thing sometime. As long as it’s not some kind of leak I have no problem with it.

Thanks in advance

The noise is power steering valve hiss.  It is most noticeable at idle with steering wheel straight or with the wheel turned about 15 to 20 degrees.  There is a bulletin to dealers about it.  There is no fix to repair it.  I have see where add some power steering fluid to the full mark can reduce some but not eliminate.  If you disconnect your ishaft, the noise will go away.

The body structure changes with the front end sheet metal basically has isolated the whole body from the chassis with the expectation of steering.  Steering gear, ishaft, and column have no isolation and all noises travel up the ishaft straight into cabin.

Mine does the same. I get the hissing or rushing water sound at idle and then as soon asi give it gas it goes away. Then comes back when I come to a stop. Yes its annoying.

Ok, thanks everyone I feel better, I think lol,  I was thinking vacuum leak but as long as I’m not alone I’m good.

Thanks for all the input this is really a great forum with great people.

As long as It don’t cause no problems my Apple Music will solve the issue.

Thanks again everyone.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a hydraulic rush or flow type noise from the power steering gear. This noise is a characteristic of the new Active Hydraulic Assist System RPO NV8 and no repairs should be made.  The noise is most noticeable in the cab at idle, in park, with all accessories turned off.

one of the reasons I bought this truck is most say they are indestructible....and I expect nothing less, certainly feels that way driving it
