I PURCHASED THE INVISIBLE TRAILER CAMERA  GM PART #84876818,  CAMERA WORKED GREAT UNTIL I RIPPED THE CABLE END OFF THE PART THAT PLUGS INTO THE BUMPER  (DIDN'T LEAVE ENOUGH LENGTH CABLE TO JACK KNIFE THE TRAILER WHILE PARKING)       LOOKING FOR  REPLACEMENT/REPAIR END FOR THE CAMERA CABLE.   DEALER DOES NOT SELL END.

Aw...  I’m looking to. GM doesn’t sell the cameras with a long enough cable for us guys with the big fifth wheels. But I don’t want to buy their stinking camera I wanna get my own.  Somebody out there makes those connectors for them we just got a find it.

I have 3 cameras that the connector failed and came off of the cable. Here is a link with some additional info

I'm going to call shopchevyparts.com tomorrow. This is a design issue, there needs to be a stress relief that connects the cable(s) to the bumper connector. This may be less of an issue for a bumper pull, but a 5th wheel or goose neck connection using just the camera connectors is doomed to fail.

While trying to find the components to extend the camera cables so I could move the bumper plug to the bed I came across the company that supplied the FAKRA type connectors. By chance they may be able to help you find the plug you are looking for.

Replacement plug for the GM invisible camera cable - yes! Part number search Ebay or Amazon the following:

031-14693 BACK UP TRAILER CAMERA VIDEO CABLE REPAIR END

In making a sharp turn with our 41 foot horse trailer, the invisible camera plug broke apart from the hitch plug.  of course GM has designed this so that nobody short of Jesus Himself could order a part to repair it or to extend it. So after praying to Jesus, guess what?  I found the following links:

https://youtu.be/yLvpZHvmIIg

NOTE:  it doesn’t tell you how to remove the old broken rear piece from the plug to replace with the new rear piece.  Here’s how you do it, photos don’t show the hair dryer, you NEED to heat it up first to melt the glue on the threads.

Heat the old plug rear shiny metal piece with a hot hair dryer for about 1 minute.  Then using two vice grip pliers, gently twist lefty loosie and it will unscrew.  If you don’t heat it up, the glue will not let you unscrew it and you will ruin the plug with your vice grips for being an idiot and not listening.  Heat it up! It will unscrew no problem with a little effort. Attached are photos.  As a woman who was reared on a Portuguese dairy farm by immigrant parents, we learned to fix things.  I am so happy to have found a fix for this stupid cable.  Now I am working on making a pig tail on the plug side, not the camera side. I will post when it I get it completed.

Lastly, we tried an expensive wireless HD digital camera system with transmitters but it didn’t work at road speeds well, cutting in and out due to interference from the new two 2021 GMC 2500 and 3500 HD Denali’s we own and tow with.  So even though we cannot use the invisible camera feature due to the length of our trailer and the fact that it is a gooseneck, it does work excellently for having a rearview camera and an interior camera. We had to of course buy extra zip tie mount clips to attach the trailer wires the way we need to install them. You can get those cheaply at Lowe’s at this link:

Wanted to resurrect this thread just to say the part Suzi listed worked perfectly.  I had pulled the original plug loose by accident and this replacement is exactly the same.

There is a wireless camera now available from GMC and Chevyparts. Getting ready to pull the trigger.

If you’re looking at the Echomaster GM wireless camera it is not compatible with the built-in Invisible camera system that our trucks use.

If you break your cable you can buy the connector listed above and repair it.

If you need a longer cable…. Cut the GM cable 2 feet from the connector.  Put a RG-59 outdoor compression F-connector on the end.  Put another on the other cut end.  For an extension use outdoor jacketed RG-6 (much easier to find) with outdoor compression F-connectors.  Buy a couple of barrel connectors and you are set.  Use electrical tape or a mixture of butyl rubber tape covered with electrical tape at the connections and you are set.

These cameras are powered by a voltage sent to the camera via bias-t then the return signal has the voltage blocked at the receiver end and displayed on your dash.

This is used in ham radio to power pre-amplifiers, antenna switches, etc while still letting us transmit and receive on the same coax.

Good Luck

I had the cable tied up on the front of my trailer.  Came loose and dragged on the ground.  Nee a replacement for the plastic end with the two blue o-rings.  Suggestions?

    • Hi friends - first time poster. I have a 2015 sierra Denali with 150k miles, I’m the second owner and she’s given me 75k of great service. I run a pulse AFM disable device. Starting Thursday when I exited the freeway after a short local ride it started idling rough, with an obvious misfire shake and was down on low end power.  I got it home and hooked it up to my scannner and found no codes but in live data a pretty bad misfire on cylinder 5. I replaced the coil, plug and wire with all new OE replacements (Delphi gn10165 coil, acdelco wire and 41-168 plug). It’s still behaving the same way after firing the parts cannon at it.   I know cyl 5 is a non AFM cylinder so I am not thinking this is AFM related but I’m kinda at a loss. injector? Bent pushrod? It’s running too well over 1k rpm to suggest those IMO. Has anyone chase this issue before and what was it? Any suggestions?
    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?.
    • He is not saying that an SAE *W20 will have more viscosity than a *W40 due to MORE VII polymers. He is saying that although multiple *W40 may post in the PDS the same or similar 100 C and 150 C viscosities that the blenders choice of modifier TYPE and AMOUNT to get his chosen base to grade will not give identical real world viscosities in shear and at temperature. All will pass the SII test but not all will pass the 100 C HTHS (unpublished value) testing the blender does and relies on to get the required by law "percentage improvement' referenced to his last great work.    Tis the problem with the lie. Once told others are required to support it.
    • I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem.   What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. Just put it in gear.   Setting parameters? Don`t know if it`s possible.
