I'll also add that monopolies are nothing new in sports, in auto racing CART tried breaking away from the Indy Car series and went bankrupt.  MLB enjoys a congressional law exempting them from anti-trust laws. The NFL couldn't stand the competition from the AFL and eventually absorbed them.

That doesn’t make it right, what they are doing. I worked with Bobby Allison and learned more than I ever wanted about NASCAR.

Amen Stan, my heart also goes out to the families of the pilot and other passenger. Greg was a true hero, not for his work as a wheel-man at the track but for his touch with the stick and lever as he choppered in supplies to people in desperate need that were totally isolated in the mountains of western NC after Helene. He undoubtedly saved many lives.
