I confess that on my old 2007 and many vehicles before my current 2019, I got into the bad habit of going from reverse to drive while still moving backwards a bit.  Faulting my impatience perhMy past vehicles including 2007 Silverado and 2000 Sierra never slammed from reverse to drive.  I guess GM just designed these new trucks differently.

If my current truck is moving at all and I shift from reverse to drive it will slam.

Yup, guilty of the same.  I don't do that anymore with my 2019.  In a few years it'll all be 10-speeds anyway.  Don't think this happens in the 10 speed.

Will be scheduling my 4th!!!!! service appointment in less than 6000 miles for a falling brake pedal. not only does the pedal fall but the brakes overheat meaning that we're not getting the pads to bite into the rotors I've told them this last three times I've been there and they've still done nothing except update the software which made it better for about two days. I told him to replace the pads and rotors they refused I told them they needed to bleed the brake system they claimed it wasn't needed.

my question to you is do you have an escalation process inside of GM customer service if not do you have the contact information to somebody that could force a dealer to actually listen to a customer?

I've had more near rear-end incidents in 6000 miles than I've had over the last 250,000 miles(10 yrs, 25k/year avg) I've driven since getting my license.

Brakes are unpredictable, sometimes it will be nice and tight at the top, then as you apply pedal the pedal falls but the braking force doesn't increase. The next stop you end up engaging the ABS because the brakes are back up to the top again. Smooth stops are basically impossible.

There is a noticable delay between applying the pedal and the brakes activating. (For instance if you suddenly hit the brakes hard, there is at least a half-second delay before the brakes activate)

My 19 SLT does this all the time. Took it to the dealer last week and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong.(what a surprise). I mentioned software updates and they said they would look into it. Told me it was ready. As I backed up out of the spot where they parked it, put it in drive...nothing , then bang! Faak it, kept on going. Tsb states come to a complete stop. My 15 Sierra never had an issue. U would think over time “they” would get better at designing ******!

So its the weirdest thing and I still haven't figured it out. My 2019 DC did this every day, it would even do it after being driven and warm if I parked it for a few minutes. R to D was always a jerk no matter how patient I was and the first 1-2 shift after starting the truck "again even if warm" always came with a slam or long hesitation despite being gentle with it. The transmission would also sometimes get confused like when slowing down and then getting back on the gas resulting in hard shifts.

 

My 2020 CC.......... Smooth as butter! It blows me away, I double checked my build sheet to make sure I didn't get a 10 speed some how. It just doesn't even make sense that this is the same trans as my 19. I haven't gotten a single hard shift in this thing and it was a service loaner for 3700 miles so I know it wasn't treated nicely.

So I emailed the social media contact that was given earlier. She tells me I will need to take the truck in to have it looked at, my local dealer though is a month behind on transmission screenings?  So i said I can take it somewhere else. So I pick the next closest place and they want to charge a 136 dollar diagnostic fee?  I asked if i was under warranty and she said yes but they are independent dealers and that’s what they charge.

 

im going to make an appointment and take it in.  Even though I bought it used, in my opinion it should be covered.   The down shift is crazy.  If they hand me the service bulletin about coming to a complete stop, I’ll let you all know.
 

I do think this is only the 8 speeds.   And it’s interesting that the 2021s will have less options for the 8 speed as the 10 Seems to be replacing them as standard at least I think I read that correctly somewhere ......hmmmm.

Wow...quite a few of the people on this post don't come to a stop before shifting, and that's kinda sad...and then GM explains exactly what is going on, yet its met with resistance...

Ive taken my vehicle in for service on this issue. Of course the tech provided the GM bulletin explaining that the vehicle needs to be at full stop for transmission to recognize it needs to start from 1st gear. Doesn't matter if Im at a standstill or not, I still get a jump that feels like Ive been rear ended. In addition, there are times that when backing into a roadway or out of a driveway, that I need to shift and go to operate safely. This also happens at low speeds, such as pulling in a parking lot of driveway, push on the gas after slowing and WHAM! I have zero confidence in this vehicle after 14 repairs outside of this issue in less than a year of ownership.

With the knowledge that there is no repair or GM does not want to repair this issue my 2019 Trail Boss is going on the block this is total nonsense now I know why the dealer was telling me there was nothing wrong with my transmission all done with GM Products.
