I think people are saying those are pretty minor. These massive trucks are very difficult to keep perfect on every part of the vehicle.
 

If you had an agreement with the dealership for new rims, that’s a different story. 
 

I don’t know if this can be treated the same as paint, but have you tried to polish them out?

I am with you I wouldn’t accept the truck. Not sure why they don’t just swap the wheels onto another truck or have them repaired so you can buy it.

I’m not real sure why people have to be such ass hats! If I spent 65k on a truck and it had a defect before I left the lot I’d want it fixed too. I guess people like Tyler here don’t have any pride in ownership. I’d hate to see what shape his vehicles are in.

Your dealer should have a wheel repair guy on speed dial. I had 3/4 wheels scratched up pretty bad from a tire balance at the dealer and they called their guy, and they were fixed. He came out with some air tools and poilishing pads and had some deep scratches out in about 30 mins. Should be on dealers dime but worst case would cost you $50 to make your problem go away.

If you don’t trust that, you can do it yourself. I scratched one of the wheels on my nova pretty good and bought some meguiars compound and some cutting pads off of amazon and had it out in not too long. This scratch you could feel with your fingernail too so it was fairly deep.

I 100% agree with you it shouldn’t have come like that and this is out of principle but the amount of time you’ve spent fighting with the dealer, it could have been taken care of already.

I agree. People shouldn't speak if there just gunna have useless comments. People come on here for information. Not to be judged by someone far away typing through there phone cause they have nothing better to do.

I am not sure if you noticed, but half of these threads are of useless comments. 
 

I’ll provide some insight so this is not deemed useless, it’s an aluminum wheel? If it’s painted or aluminum, run your fingernail across it and see if you can feel anything. The main area of “damage” seems to be the clear coat cracked and is manufacturer defect if so. There is also a noticeable light scratch that I would have just polished out. 
 

Now, I don’t think Tyler does not take care of his vehicles, he may very well not either. Just more of a realist.. I agree to a certain extent, why run to the forums to ask questions about a brand new truck? We all have that “what I would/should/could do” and “I would not/should not” useless comments. I do think paying 10k+ for a new vehicle no matter the end cost, you should get a new vehicle. Things slip, scratches/dents happen.. I work across the street from 2 body shops that I see new vehicles from dealerships all the time. How many times are those disclosed? They can fix it and the buyer would never know. 
 

It is a scratch.. the OPs fault was leaving the lot knowing full well it was there and taking the dealerships word. I wouldn’t be on the forums asking questions that I can be asking the dealership. Just my useless comment..

"Really surprised no one has suggested a psych evaluation. [emoji23]"

Dumb stuff like that is just useless to the forum. Or anywhere.

I’ve bought new trucks with scratches and scuffed wheels. Id get a discount and resolve the problem myself. I’ve never met a salesman that wouldn’t lie to get you in a vehicle. That’s a given.

Thanks all for the useful comments. The others driving junk must not appreciate nice things. Anyway, the dealer is taking care of having the defects wheels polished out. They originally said that the wheels were clear coated and couldn’t be polished without refinishing the wheel. However I guess that’s not the case. It goes this week to get fixed.

Good deal they are trying to take care of you, I wouldn't want preexisting scratches on my new truck, that's my job.....

      Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?

      I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.

      I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
