Has anyone tried or uses the range technology AFM disabler? Does it work? Pros and cons?

It works and it takes up your obd port so you can't plug anything else in.   Just get a tune.

Yes they work fine.  Buy it from Range and not a 3rd party vendor as they don't always stock the newest ones.  You do have to remove it before you have a state inspection (if your state does them) and drive it for a couple hundred miles to reset the monitors.  If you have Onstar, your monthly check up they send you will have a bunch of yellow question mark triangles because the Range is in the port and won't let the data read for Onstar correctly.

I had one for about 16,000 miles but removed it for a custom tune and to gain back my OBD port.

A lot of people have them on here. They do work. I think the most up to date version has a blue LED.

The LED can be red, green or blue, you have the option when you order to pick the LED color.

Isn’t getting it tune the expensive way of doing it though?

True but you get so much more. I mean you could always drive around in M7 for free to avoid afm but you will love your truck more with a real tune. Diablew or Blackbear. I don't really know how to explain it. A custom tune totally changed my truck.

How much did you get it tuned for?

Black bear charges $650ish if I remember. 100% worth it. IIRC 2017s and up can't get the trans tuned so it may not be worth it as most of my happiness with the tune comes from the new transmission programming.

They do tune the transmissions on the 2017's but not with the 8-speed transmission. There is some additional security to break through for unlocking the controller for tuning and they don't do that.

I am actually about to send in my logs to Black Bear for my 2017 to get a custom tune done.

Good info! Enjoy the new truck man. It's going to be totally different.

I went with Diablew and it’s been great. It’s around the same price as BlackBear. You can’t go wrong with either.
