Traded in my 2017 GMC Sierra for a 2020. Both have the 8 speed transmission 5.3 engine. I have noticed the trans temp on the 2020 is much hotter? The whole time I had my 2017 the trans temp never went over 185 pulling a trailer on 100' Texas days. The 2020 is running at 185 not pulling anything when its 80' outside..this normal for the new models?

Pretty much the same here ...  dont believe there's any issue.

I've never seen it go above 200 even towing for a distance.

Ditto here. 190-200 loaded then drops to 180-190 unloaded. I’m running the 3.0L Duramax and that motor runs hot on purpose (210) so I figured that’s actually a good trans temp. Used to tow with a Honda Odyssey and that would easily get to 230+ degrees with the crappy OEM type of cooler. I installed A TruCool cooler on that van and it kept fluid under 200 then.

Different tranny, but just for comparison, my AT4 6.2/10speed, hottest I've ever seen it was going up a 7% grade pulling a 6k lb camper going 70mph at 112 outside temperature.
Engine temp got very high, but tranny never went over 185f320391f83308ffb13dcef58322295b2.jpg
