Any luck with this??? Curious of the outcome. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an exhaust as soon as I take delivery. Been looking around for other posts about true dual vs Y pipe. Sound / Performance difference? I'm sure they would be marginal, but I bet we can all agree, it's the minor details that matter most in the mod world. lol

I'm really stuck between the Touring and S-Type. I need to make a decision soon. My wife might kill me if she hears another exhaust YouTube video in the middle of the night. She tells me "You've listened to that same f@&king video 5 times now!" *Inserts Earbuds* lol

I literally laughed out loud and had to read this to my wife😂😂😂😂

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I never really saw an answer to the original question. As I'm considering the same thing, is there any reason to get the Borla True-Dual 140785 over the Borla 140783?

I'm hoping someone with knowledge will chime in. The only thing I can think of is that the True Dual might be better for someone who has plans to put more mods on...headers, supercharger, etc?

I don't think so. The OP confirmed that the true dual is a 2-1-2 such that its 2 separate pipes that drop into a single  muffler and then split back out. The regular is a bit easier to install as it meets up behind the y pipe past the cats so only needs a single cut. It is also the same design that the touring and atak use (as well as Corsa and other systems) with the single in dual out design. One thing to also notice is that the regular stype and the atak are the same setup with the exception of a small resonator behind the muffler. That can be removed and their straight pipe put in and now you have the atak setup so easy to adjust if the stype isnt loud enough.

Wondering about the outcome of this as well.  Particularly interested in if there would be anything that might require me having to take it into the dealership to "tune" something to keep it from tripping some kind of damn sensor I have no idea about LOL.

I installed the True-Dual Type S, it is a really nice unit and sounds really good!  I will say that it is loud, very comparable to the ATAK, in my opinion.  Mine did not require any tuning, it is just a CAT-back so it was good to go.  I ended up adding a resonator to each run to tone it down a bit, I would say it is perfect now.

Finally got my S-Type installed yesterday. My 2019 had the GM performance exhaust which was the Borla Touring. Exactly what I was going for with a bit more sound out of the S-Type. At idle and initial acceleration it is definitely louder but not overly and with the windows up on the freeway I cant tell the difference inside between this and the touring exhaust. I had it installed by my dealer and the tech had also recently installed a true dual S-Type and said he couldnt tell the difference between the 2 systems from a sound perspective. Maybe after some break in time there will be a difference but seems like out of the box they are close enough so not really sure what the benefit of the true dual is over the regular one.

FYI the Corsa Sport cat-back exhaust system for the 6.2L, crew cab, short box, using the factory tips, is currently 8-10 weeks out. I'm on week #6... 🙄

Found this video on the "True Dual", this guy claims it was too loud at first so he put stock resonators back on. I'm on the fence on what system I should get now.

I really like the way the S-Type True Dual sounds in this clip, can anyone who has it say for sure that theres sounds similar to this? This sounds totally different than the OP's video in my opinion

I installed the true-dual set up on my 2020 6.2 and loved the sound but it was VERY loud.  I added some Borla resonators after the muffler and love the sound.  It is still much louder than stock but not wake the neighbors loud!

Did it sound sort of like the 2nd video I posted? Sounds like a may just want to get the single inlet and outlet S-Type if it's too obnoxious

Unless you're doing something like what AEmedic has done and I plan on doing with supercharging. The single would probably be just right. I've had both the Touring and the S-type. Touring was too quiet unless I was getting on it. I love the S-type because you can hear it while just regular driving and getting on it, well, that just makes me grin from ear to ear.

Cold starts in the morning do have a bark louder than the Touring for sure, but I like the sound once it settles. I keep mine garaged and tend to start it up with the door closed if it's outside of peaceful hours 8am to 10pm so as not to annoy my neighbors

Appreciate the feedback. No plans for a supercharger, this will be my daily driver. I don't just like loud exhaust, I'm looking to get the most "tuned" sound as possible. If that makes any sense.

I would say that the clip is accurate, as to the sound.  It's hard to capture volume with a video.

    • Thanks, so being a different beast altogether, anyone know what the "optimal" temp is for the 10L80/90 for proper shifting?
    • How many years have I pointed out every point in that link to the folks here and been avalanched with criticisms and outright hostilities at times? I ran counter to even the great CUSTOMBOSS and Lake Speed Jr and the half dozen experts on YouTube and in the final.....GM, Physics (Stribeck) backs that Grumpy old Bear.    Honestly, I never said a thing engineering hadn't studied silly and laid in concrete during WWII. But I'm old, the information is old and yet, the Laws of Physics are eternal.    Okay there is one exception. I vehemently disagree with their use of the word 'tolerances' when what it meant is "clearance".   The clearance is the distance between two objects. The tolerance is the degree of acceptable variation permitted in that clearance. I.E., piston to bore clearance is 0.004" with a tolerance of +/- .0002" so the clearance is in specification if it lies between 0.0038" and 0.0042". Cutting that 'tolerance in half has ZERO impact on lubrication requirements. Makes for more difficulty in manufacturing.  But a tighter clearance 'MAY'. Depends on finish. Anyway....   It's one of those statements made by people to make themselves look smarter than they are to convince people who are as un-enlighten as they seem to manipulate their behaviors. But hey, the blind leading the blind puts them both in the pit.
    • Out and about yesterday on a long Saturday drive I passed a lot of Shell stations. My preferred, so I pay attention. Lot's of small town Illinois so not six stations in three blocks like the city.    Everyone of them over a radius of say 100 miles had regular at $4.19 but one which was the one closest to home at $4.15. However Premium pricing varied greatly between 85 cents over regular to $1.50 over. I'm not counting the price of the station with the lowest regular so the reference is the same for the remainder and all within the same brand. However the spread discrepancy holds across all brands.     @txab, any thoughts on that?
    • What are your thoughts? The Chevy Blazer relaunch was an epic case of 'lunchbag letdown'. Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos stick out like a sore thumb.    The AI photos do not look like a 'retro version', but shrunken Tahoes. Get away from the 'futuristic look'. I've seen two concepts. One had rectangular headlight like a Rivian and the other way to big should include dual round headlights like the early version.   If not this would look OK   At least it has GM styling (albeit the K2XX) A lot of the images floating around look like Bronco IIs or the current Bronco. Looking at the Broncos in my area (central Ontario, it seems to be a mix of 2 doors and 4 doors, 'mall rated' to ones that could go offroad.    I'm sure a AT4 and AT4X RPOs could be outfitted similar to a Rubicon if the braintrust understood the whole offroad scene. Crosing my fingers that if it does see the light that the front air dam/bumper doesn't extend below the center line of the tire...
