I have a 2020 Silverado 1500 LT Z71. I have always thought it was weird that I could not see the climate information unless I changed something and that little pop-up appeared.

Although I noticed on some reviews and models that some have a dedicated climate button in the infotainment.

Is this a fault? I'm not sure why having a climate button in the infotainment would be locked to certain packages and can't find any documentation around it.

I just glance at the buttons to see what's set..... there is also climate app or whatever it's called. Just like how the audio and phone thing is on the infotainment.

Yeah that's the button or "app" that I'm referring to. My truck does not have that in the infotainment.

What trim level is your truck? Any packages?

I'm not really sure what you're talking about but mine is the same trim as your's.  LT Z71.  Not certain of the other packages but I have the app and this is a picture I found on the web as I'm not in my truck this week.

I don't see why this would be linked to certain vehicle trims.  You can find it by looking for the person in a seat on the infotainment.20190417_173130.thumb.jpg.76beb74578b4fa9ebb9ba1a04a8c85f9.jpg.8903bc0eaad3eb563e0e4da38aaa34d1.jpg

Other than that, you can easily look at the climate controls on the dash in between the temp control.  Thats where I always look. I never really use the touch screen for the climate.

Is yours 2019 or 2020?

Bump

Does you screen have 2 or 3 little dots at the bottom - centre?

If it does, try swiping the screen left/right to show the other page(s).

I believe if you want that feature you need to have the IOS and up Radio to get that feature...If you have Conv package 2 you'll have it I believe..Kind of a useless feature if you ask me...

Per the manual, only dual automatic climate control equipped vehicles have the climate control status display on the infotainment screen. Standard climate control equipped vehicles do not.

Yeah. I do have dual, automatic climate. But no climate control button in the infotainment. That's why it seems weird, because when it's in auto, I have no idea what it's doing. Seems like a weird bug...I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer and figure it out.

My thoughts exactly. You can look at the HVAC controls and see everything that is on that screen.

I wish you could rearrange the lower "fixed" icons.

Sorry for taking so long but I looked at the sticker for my 2019 LT Z71.  It has these packages; All Star Edition, Convenience II, Z71 and protection, trailer brake and 5.3 (since that was optioned).

As it was mentioned, this feature is kinda pointless when it shows you the exact same thing the HVAC controls show.  It doesn't even have the heated or A/C seats on there.  I've only looked at it and played around with it a couple of times.

If you really want it and think you're truck should have it, then take it to the dealer and they should be able to reprogram it for you.  If you're truck is supposed to have it, then they will do it for free.

Do you have HD radio? There's a few trims that don't have that, or the climate control. I'm not sure which level they are, but it sounds like you don't have that level of radio.

If you hold down any icon, a pop up comes on and you can swipe the apps up to delete. I wouldn’t think it would let you delete that icon, but maybe somehow it got deleted. If that’s the case, you could try doing a radio reset in the settings app and see if it comes back

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
