Hank B Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 All - I have a 2021 Duramax on order; it will be my first diesel. I'm wondering if the fuel filler inlet on the truck will allow the larger diesel fuel filler hoses that are used in the fill lanes at truck stops for the big rigs? Any info is much appreciated!

I didn't try the fuel nozzle, mostly because the large ones pump so many gpm. The 3.0L has the same filler as the gassers -- with the double flap system, instead of the traditional fill cap that is used on the 6.6L trucks. I have used the truck lanes bulk def to fill def tank, on LML and an '18 L5P 6.6's and on 3.0L LM2. Much easier than messing with jugs. The new system with the def fill beside the fuel fill makes it even easier. I usually put my truck in a lane backwards when filling the def from bulk. This is not necessary with the new fill location. EDIT: I see you avatar shows a 3500 coming (I was resonding thinking the 21 you have on the way was a 3.0L. I think you'll find the large nozzle will fit (at least it would have fit on the 6.6''s listed above. But it might get messy when it gets near full....lots of 'automotive' size nozzles would result in some spillage if the flow rate not slowed soon enough.
Hank B Posted December 16, 2020 Author Posted December 16, 2020 Thank you redwngr - the reason I’m asking is that I’ll be towing a 41 foot 5th wheel RV with this truck. Could be tough to maneuver in and out of the usual consumer lanes with this beast in tow.
wurgs Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Not sure if they changed filler necks but our 2018 work truck could use the larger nozzle but like mentioned there is usually a little spillage as it does flow lots more fuel and never seems to shutoff in time to avoid it.
