2021 LT Trail Boss Electric Folding Mirrors?

I purchased my 1st GM - 2021 Trail Boss. I left the Ford Raptor family.

 

The truck does not have electric folding mirrors which was important to me due to my tight parking situation. The dealer checked and was told they could install mirrors so I bought the truck. The dealer ordered all the parts, I brought it back for them to install but they can't do it. They said it is an easy swap for 2018/2019 but not 2020/2021 because when hooked up it can't "talk to the computer through the cloud". They have mirrors, wiring harnesses and some modulator but they say GM needs to write a code to make this work. There is no code written at this time.

 

They are bringing my truck back next week with all the parts they ordered (no cost to me) and refunding my upgrade cost plus $500 for my trouble.

This does not make sense to me so I am wondering if there is a way to hook up the electric folding mirrors.

That's because its never been an option on that model so it was never designed into it so the architecture to support them does not exist. Power folding mirrors are ONLY offered in Chevy's on the LTZ and High Country.  Its a marketing decision that most buyers don't want that feature on Trail Boss.

Welcome to the world of 21st Century vehicles. The Body Control Module (BCM) needs to be reflashed to work with those mirrors - otherwise the computer won't know they're there, and will be unable to control them. Sounds like the information in the reflash hasn't been created. Usually you can just take that info from another model, but of course, this is 2021, so who knows what pitfalls and nightmares lay in wait for us mechanics out here in the future with these ones. Maybe they built it so that these things wouldn't be easy. GM does crap like this all the time.

 

Anyway, hope you have better luck with it than I had with my truck. It's been nothing but trouble literally since the day it rolled off the showroom floor, and continues dollaring me to death at barely over 100k miles today. Yesterday I bondoed and rattle-canned the rot holes over both rear fenders. Thing has been a garage queen since day 1, and still rots out ... GOOD LUCK.

 

P.S. - Hope you've got a healthy wallet, because she's gonna be skinny after this one ...
