Any idea what this could be?

To me it sounds like a squeaking combined with something vibrating...to me it seems like the sound is coming from the pulleys/belts etc.

It is a distinct sound so I just thought maybe someone has experienced this before?

the truck is a 2019 Silverado LD 1500 V8 5.3L and it only has 15k miles.

Mine exhibits a squeaking sound when first started and cold... seems to disappear once warm. Also, mine has a very distinct ticking noise... sounds just like a grandfather clock. Not sure if these are normal characteristics of the 5.3. This is my first GM.

UPDATE: I took mine to the dealer yesterday and the sound was coming from the water pump. They replaced the entire water pump assembly under warranty in about 3 hours. Today it is running perfectly silent - no noise at all (knock on wood).

The sound on mine was intermittent, but yesterday when I arrived at the dealer the water pump pulley was visually wobbling and making more noise than ever. They couldn’t say “no defect found.” So I got lucky that it was making noise when I took it in. Not sure this helps you. But if the sound continues to get worse it might be worth having someone take a look at it.

JimmyT - do you know what is making that white stipe on your belt? Also seems like it is "jumping" on the crankshaft pully. If you remove the belt you can hand check the pullies to see if any wobble, or are loose. You can also replace the belt tensioner for not too much cost. They are hit and miss how long they last. Some go quick, some are lifetime.

To try an narrow it down, people usually use a stethoscope (like doctors have). They sell at most parts stores. it generally helps figure out which part of the pully system is the source of the sound.

2021SierraX31 - my "grandfather clock" tick came from my throttle body (6.2L 2018). Replaced and the sound is gone.

Thanks for the heads up on throttle body. I wouldn’t have guessed that as culprit. I wasn’t thinking something internally and oil related. Are there any TSBs on it?
