I have a 1-gal gas can (about 1/2 full) of 2-stroke premix that has been sitting in my garage for at least 3 years.  Looking for ideas on how to dispose of it, LEGALLY.

We have hazardous waste days put on by our county a couple times a year.  They take flammable liquids at that time.  Check to see if you have anything like that around you.  Any chance it’s ethanol free or stabilized?  If so, could check with a neighbor or family member that still uses a 2 stroke engine.  Even if not stabilized, it would probably burn just fine.  I’d just put a small amount in a larger fresh batch and use it up.

If it still smells ok, put it your truck. I do it every fall with left over mix.

What other gas engines do you have?  Mix it with straight gas and run it in those engines, put it in your truck and fill the tank, etc...1/2 gallon isn't going to make much of a difference in a 25+ gallon tank.  I use to run old gas, gas/oil mix, etc in my boat, lawnmower, truck, etc all the time with no issues

Finally got around to revisiting this "issue."  We just purchased a new cordless lawn mower.  I'm looking at mixing my 2-stroke (generator) gas with what's left of my gas for the mower, and dumping it into my truck or sell it with the old gas mower.

Every spring I use old gas to kill plants and trees where regular poison does not work.

That's what my late father use to do with the oil from our "at home oil changes," until a deputy saw him pouring some in the sidewalk and street cracks.  Luckily, dad didn't get cited, but was escorted to nearest auto parts store to get rid of the rest.  Brother and I ran inside to tell mom that dad was being arrested, the look on her face was priceless, until she took the belt to us after she figured out what was really going on.    AH, life was so much simpler in the early 80s.

When I saw this, I couldn't help but write. This post made me laugh a lot and face the bitter truth. 🙂  I have to deal with what It's brought me. We have aged a lot, a lot. I miss those times.
