The basic... I am in the market for a 2021 3500HD Denali with the 6.6L. I am moving to Las Vegas from overseas and cannot find anything in Las Vegas. I emailed a dealer there and the response was the exact opposite of the truck I asked for. (They sent me a price for a 2500 Gasser). I am seeing trucks in Reno, Salt Lake City, and Arizona that fit what I am looking for.

What kind of deals are out there? MSRP is around $81,950. What is realistic?

The long...I looked at the GMC a few years ago, but ended up in a 2017 F250. I loved the truck. But I am in the military and got orders overseas and had to sell it after a year. I am moving back to the US, to Las Vegas in 2 weeks. I am in the market for a truck. I am NOT brand loyal and feel as though buying another Ford would be like buying the same truck over. And I love the technology in trucks and the Denali tops the Ford with the Heads-up Display and camera options.

Must haves for the truck are:

-Diesel

-3500 (will be towing 12000lb 5th wheel)

-White Frost Tricoat, Quicksilver Metalic, or MAYBE Pacific Blue

-Denali Ultimate Package

-Technology Package

-Cargo Convenience Package

-Gooseneck/5th Wheel Prep

-Trailer Tire Presser and Temp Sensors

-Aux Trailer Cam

I am willing to travel up to 500 miles from Las Vegas to get the truck, once a deal is made. Does anyone have recommendations on a dealer? Any idea on pricing? I have seen prices all over the place. I have seen on Car Gurus them showing a price around $78,000, with the good deal pricing around $74,000. Which means there is room to go lower than what they list for. What is realistic?

I am open to dealers contacting me if they are willing to not waste either of our time and just give me their best up front price.

So here’s the deal, just a couple months ago it was possible to find the truck you are looking for in the $72-74k range if you negotiated a solid deal, and they were hard to find at that time so that would have been a very solid price.

As of right now inventory is so low and demand is so high you are going to pay very close to $80k for your $82k MSRP and that’s if you find anything.

Unfortunately you had to sell your other truck already because that’s how/why people are able/willing to afford these prices.  Used truck value is just as crazy if not crazier.  I bought an $82k MSRP 2500 6 months ago for $72k and I’ve had a dealer offer me $80k cash for it just this week and it’s used with 10k on it if that gives you any idea the current market.

Probably not the info you wanted to hear but it’s real world what’s happening in the truck market right now.

I can’t speak to other brands outside Chevy/GMC but I am assuming it’s similar.

Good luck to you.

Based on your post I assume you would qualify for the Military Discount.  If you could find a dealer currently accepting it that may be your best bet for any discount. If my memory serves me correct it should be somewhere around 5-7% off MSRP before rebates.  But like the previous post said, it’s pretty tough dealing right now and some dealers aren’t honoring all discounts.

I was afraid of this. I have been reading that trucks are hard to come by. I found a dealer in Salt Lake City Utah that has 9 on the lot. 5 meet my needs. They have it listed on Cargurus, price is $77K. I emailed them asking what they could do, they came back $87,564 OTD not including taxes. I asked him why it is so far off the $77K they have listed and he pretty much told me what you did. He said since I do not have a trade and am not financing, that $87K is no haggle best than can do. Looks like I am not buying a Denali. I can afford it. But refuse to pay such a markup OVER MSRP.

I do qualify for the Military Discount. He didn't even acknowledge it, even though its on their website.

I don't EVER expect a military discount. But if you (a dealer) are going to go for the hearts and minds by posting your support for the military, you should honor it.

@xETERNALx - I realize you had a limit of 500 miles from Vegas, but there are two 2021 GMC 3500 Denali's at the dealership where I just bought mine.  Here's the links - https://www.reiselmanbuickgmc.com/new-Nashville-2021-GMC-Sierra+3500+HD-Denali-1GT49WEY1MF262394 and https://www.reiselmanbuickgmc.com/new-Nashville-2021-GMC-Sierra+3500+HD-Denali-1GT49WEY8MF178511.

I bought mine there in April and the price was what you see for the two on the website.  However, I too am a military member (retired) and I took my '21 GMC 3500HD Denali (Black Diamond Edition) for significantly less...$72K.

I know they will ship because they offered it to me, but I drove down and picked it up.  They are just north of Nashville, TN.  Right about 1800 miles from Vegas.  PM me if you would like the names of the two guys that were simply terrific to work with.

BTW - thanks for your service and welcome home!

Tim

p.s. both are diesels.

I messaged you. If the deal is good and shipping isn't a killer, this would be perfect.

Im going to break from the crowd here.  With being in the military myself and doing it myself with cars.  Dont be buying the 70-80k trucks,  with PCS and moving and having to sell you are constantly losing money.  Buy new thats fine,  but buy something cheaper.  You will thank me later.  Short of E7 and above,  nobody in the military should be buying trucks worth that much.

While I understand completely, this truck will be used for what it is intended to be used for. Buying new in the 3500/F350 range is going to be expensive no matter what. I have no desire for a stripped out model that would be just slightly cheaper. I have lost a ton of money on cars over the years, but I am in the "E7 and above" category, and other than cars have done alright financially, I will be paying cash. This is my 10th PCS with everyone of them being from or too overseas. Every time I have been forced to sell a new car because we always ship the wifes. I got orders 2 months after buying my 2017 F-250 Lariat. It had 400 miles on it the day I got orders overseas. But this will be my last move, so I am finally going all out and getting my 5th Wheel and Truck.

I have been talking with them. They have nothing in the color I am looking for.

I have talked with atleast 10 dealers across the US. None are able to get me a Quicksilver or White one. I am thinking about getting any color, then having it wrapped the color I want. This is nuts!

I know I talked to 30 dealers when i bought mine....back in feb, it is what it is......there is probably a few just search function for GM and even RAM is kinda lame.....dont make it easy thats for sure

Thanks for the advice guys. I found a truck. Not 100% what I was looking for, but the price was right and it will do what I need. After talking to 15 dealers across the US, I walked into the one down the street to look at a 3500 Denali in Pacific Blue. The salesman said it was sold, but the manager said he had a Black 2500 AT4 optioned with everything the Denali has. I looked at the pin weight of the camper I want, and it will work.

Only issue was color, but the dealer honored true MSRP and I got $1000 rebate with no other fees (except tax). I figure I will get it wrapped the day I get it and still be ahead of some quotes I got.

Just so people have an idea. I received quotes WITHOUT tax on $81,000 MSRP Denalis ranging from $86,000 to $95,000. I was told by some dealers they could order for me, but anything ordered would NOT have the driver alert functions due to microchip shortages. But that they were not adjusting the price!! I was told that literally it would say it had them since its part of the Denali Ultimate, but that it would not function. THATS INSANE!!!

So, my AT4 should get here next week. I look forward to looking deeper into the forums.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
