Hey guy so I brought my truck off a dealer 2011 silverado LTZ 4x4 5.3L with 68k miles on it and the oil pressure ran at a constant 40 PSI when I first purchased the truck. After my first oil change from when I brought it from the dealer it dropped all the way down to 20 PSI at hot idle and fluctuates when you accelerate to a lil over 40 to 45 PSI. I got immediately worried and had everything changed. Oil pump, pick up tube, o ring, all new seals, OPS and screen... the works. No difference. Truck starts up cold 40 PSI and drops to 20 after warm and fluctuates still after all the replacing. I heard this was normal ? It's been about 7 months on my new oil pump and 2 oil changes later and nothing wrong she's runs great but is it normal for your oil pressure to fluctuate like that ? I've seen multiple YouTube videos stating that the lifters are stuck, AFM issues, etc.... just hoping my 700$ oil pump change was enough... seeing that oil pressure fluctuate makes my stomach cringe... I need some relief ! Talk to me people lol. I am no mechanic sorry about that I am a painter

Completely normal.

Oil is thicker when it's cold so the oil pressure is higher. Hot oil pressure is always going to far less than when cold.

18-25 hot is just fine and 35-40 at cruising speed is normal as well. It'll touch closer to 50psi under heavy load.

Seems like you spent $700 for nothing.

Your mechanic took advantage of your fear and lack of knowledge. Education can be expensive but it is a lesson you will not forget soon. Sorry that happened to you. Ask first next time 😉
