ssg57 Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 2021, Gas 2500HD Keyless Start My question is.....Is there anyway to lock my truck while it is running with a keyless start and fob? Sometime my dog rides with me and I need to stop and go check my mail at the post office or maybe run in a store for a quick soda. I'm in Texas and it is hot in the summer time, so I would like to to leave the truck running for a few minutes to check my mail or get a soda. is this possible with my setup? Thanks, SSG
Tomato Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 I do that all the time for short periods on mine. I just hit the lock when I step out and it works fine. Not sure how long it would keep running though?
Random Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 As noted, you should be able to just lock the door while leaving the truck running. From my experience it's about 30 minutes before it shuts off after extended idle. This is with the fob on me and doors locked.
Dunn Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 exactly......just lock the truck normally after its running
ssg57 Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 Thanks guys, I was thinking the fob had to be inside the cab to stay running.
Dunn Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 i do it for quick stops @ store, in and out in 5 min and dont want to shut truck off.......
Miller812 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Yup I do this all the time, you can use one of 3 options. Lock on fob, lock on inside of door while stepping out, or the quick lock on the handle. As stated truck will only stay on for 30min before shutting off without the fob.
Hagar68 Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 The only way my 20 will lock while running is with fob. Internal lock and outside lock buttons are inoperable. Is there a setting for this in the truck settings in stereo screen?
KenO8 Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 (edited) When you start truck, continue to hold start button for about 5 seconds to disable the auto-stop (for running in park). Auto-stop while driving (like at a traffic crossing) will have an actual button to disable. Either option is per each engine start. Edited July 31, 2024 by KenO8 Clarified options
