Hi hoping for help, my husband is deaf and he can't hear what the exact place noise is coming from .first abs light came on so we change the drivers hub assembly .1 side only .so went to tow our trailer and very loud metal clang coming from underneath truck just past the drivers area

Without more info about your truck, I'd check driveshaft u-joints and if applicable the center support bearing also called carrier bearing and a hanger bearing.

Is your truck 2 wheel drive or 4x4?

Check what txab said and let us know.  That type of noise I wouldn't thing would be the transfer case.  How many miles are on it?

250k+. unfortunately we bought it used so no idea on what it went through.going to check power steering fluid .when he put the new hub on the brake pad  came apart so going check all that first, it sucks when your at a rest stop towing a rv that's  overloaded at best.

Yeah,  first thing on purchasing a used vehicle is to go over everything.  Change out all the fluids, check the brakes, belts and hoses.  Starting fresh helps to keep from having issues.  Hopefully you can find out what is wrong.
