The left rear rotor on my 2021 Sierra 1500 has shown scoring from the first week of purchase. I took it back to the dealer and was told it was normal wear after 2,200 miles. It has only gotten worse since then. The photo was taken at 2700 miles. None of the other rotors show this wear. It appears to me that the pad is not seating properly against the rotor and picking up debris. Any experiences or input would be greatly appreciated.

That rotor is straight trashed imo. Do we have any mechanics here who could possible state a reason how that would ever be considered normal wear? That is pretty well grooved and clearly either a caliper that is sticking or the pad was contaminated somehow. That should be a easy call imo, new rotor and pads and caliper if ti is not working as intended.

I've had rotors with 120,000 miles on them that have looked better than that.  Typical GM, deny deny deny and operating as intended or considered normal.

I have seen this before.

It isn't sticking IMO or it would be discolored from heat. I also agree not normal but it hasn't failed so in GM's eyes it's OK.

yeah it's ok, , as long as its not warped or undersized  worn thin , its fine!

funny these trucks barely have any rear brake bias, i'm amaized they are scored, you must have caught some metal debris in the pad..

It started the first week and been getting progressively worse. I have a gravel driveway and may be from sand being picked up. Could there be excessive clearance between the pad and the rotor allowing the sand to accumulate and what condition would create that?

Go to another dealer. Not normal wear at all. Or pull it off and check it yourself. Great reason to learn how to do brakes if you don't know already.
