Good morning, apologies if this is posted in the wrong spot but I'm guessing its applicable, truck or sub.

I've got a 2012 Suburban and I occasionally get the Service Stabilitrak and Traction Control Off lights on.  No check engine light and no codes (that my cheap reader can see).

As crazy as this sounds, it appears to be related to the cabin temperature.

For example,  the first time it happened it was July (in MN), truck was sitting in a hot parking lot, start it up and the lights are on.   As I drive it and the AC is cooling the cabin temp, they turn off.  This would happen every time it sat in a baking hot parking lot until the AC cooled it down.   Flip to the winter now, no lights until I'm driving it for some amount of time with the heat on, once it gets warm enough in the cab - they turn on.   Let the truck sit/cabin temp cool - they'll be turned off.

The only thing I could think of was the brake switch as it seems to be triggered when I hit the brake.   I replaced this last week and still have the same issue.

Any thoughts?

Coincidence?   Today I had a co-worked try his OBDII thing on it and it had a pending code   P0304.  By the time we got done with our trip the check engine light was on and it said confirmed P0304 - Cyl 4 misfire.

Separate issue?   Related?    The stabilitrac/trac control warning has been there for months and funny when I just start looking into it more, this shows up.

No idea. Probably not related at all, but if its temperature related, it might be worth looking at the tires. Are they way over or under inflated? Maybe if the TPMS get crazy tire pressure numbers it might shut the system off. Hot tires have more pressure than cold ones. Does it come on when the vehicle is moving, or only when sitting still? If it happens when moving, it could be a wheel speed sensor. If it happens when the vehicle is not moving, and with the headlights and blower motor on hi, is the battery voltage getting low and triggering an issue somehow? This is all probably useless info, but it might trigger an idea that gets you on the correct path.

I had the same issue with my 2014 GMC Sierra CC SLE for 5 years dealer could never figure it out. I too thought it was temp related cause it would do it after work alot when truck sat in sun. I finally called GM to complain and was sent back to the dealer who had new owners and service MGR. He took it to the back and came back and said it is the brake reservoir level switch. I said look it has never said low level but he ordered a new one came in a week later they installed it and it has not come back in since. That was 2-3 years ago. May be your issue too ??

You need a Tech-2.  I do not believe that your misfire and the warning lights are unrelated.

weird.  i have a similar issue - not temp related - but when i take off quickly from a stop and crank the wheels to the left (i.e. left turn arrow, or at a stop sign getting into traffic on a main road - it's been like this for years and the shop i took it to to check codes said the sensor needed to be replaced - i couldn't find anything that didn't require me disassembling the entire front end, so i leave it - (that and because it's so random, i highly doubt it's a bad sensor) I THINK my problem is related to stress on the wire from the sensor going up into the engine bay  - it happened after i put new struts on (which unbeknownst to me gave me 3" of lift in the front (but they aren't "lifted struts") that, and i have a spacer on top - which added another 1.5"  i just baby it when i take off to solve my problem - but it still baffles me why this happens

What codes?  Steering wheel angle?  How are your tires wearing up front?

    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
    • If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.
    • It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.
    • JR ! I just got the truck back from the Dealership today . The technician did a cold remote start on the truck this morning and it made the noise . It was determined that it was a starter issue and replaced it under warranty . Of course   it did not make the sound after a new starter was put in because the truck was not cold . We will we see what happens tomorrow morning when I start the truck cold  . Keep tuned !   Oh I found a video on YouTube of a cold start and it did the same thing your truck and mine do , I will see if I can find it and post it up
