Hi all. I’ve owned a truck for many years but recently bought my first GMC. I was at a dodge dealership looking at a new Ram when I noticed a GMC on their lot. It really caught my eye and after checking it out I took it home. It’s a 2020 Sierra 1500 and was traded in with only 7k miles. Seems some lady had it and wanted a jeep instead. Lucky me!  I gotta say this truck is smooth and quiet. I already love it.

so, what are the important things to know for GMC trucks?

Congrats on the beautiful truck. This past year, I got my step-dad to convert from a F150 to a white GMC Sierra SLT. After driving it, he couldn't believe how it rode and drove. Was blown away. A year later he still states how he can't believe how much better the GMC is than the Ford. I had been telling him this for the previous 8 years, but he always just went and got another F150.  Hopefully the truck treats you wonderfully like mine and his has to us.

DFM is a pain in the dick but other than that there isn't a whole lot.

If you got the sliding glass rear window it can leak.

GMC is by far the nicest looking half ton, imo

I have had MANY trucks. This new GMC platform is about the best I have owned. Great truck. There can be minor things but overall they are a great truck. Enjoy.

It seems the 2019-2021 GM trucks (Sierra and Silverado), are plagued by two major problems. The first is lifter failure which may be attributed to DFM (dynamic fuel management), the lifters, or a combination of both. The second is a leaking rear window. If you search the forum, you’ll find information about both problems.

Leaking rear window is a "when" and not an "if".  Lifters seem hit or miss.  Lots on the plus side though.  Ride, mileage, power (depends on engine), etc.  Pretty happy with mine other than leaking back window which was hopefully fixed earlier this week.

had 4 T1 GM trucks and 2 with rear sliding windows.......no issues on any of them, my first had lil clunk on 8 spd but not horrible, second 8spd was flawless........ dont live in rain and snow so only car washes

think GMC was better looking and slightly nicer finish overall, but 4 trucks 4 good results for as long as i kept them......
