BCM Swap

I have an 04 GMC Sierra 2500HD and I am looking to add power and heated seats.  My truck now has power drivers and non power passengers. if I pull a BCM, seats, and wiring from an 04 avalanche and do the turn key relearn thing, will everything work or do I need to take it to someone that has a tech 2 or the dealer?

You shouldn't need to swap BCMs you just need to add the wiring harness.

My understanding was my bcm wouldn't recognize the module under the seat so the heated seats wouldn't work, I could care less about the memory.. you could be totally right, I don't know.

Hmm I thought that there was a different module underneath the seats that connected to the BCM

Yes there is one under the seat, I assumed that and the bcm communicated together. Since my truck wasn't factory heated seat/memory that it wouldn't work without reprogramming the bcm or swapping it out.

Why tie into the truck's systems at all? I installed heated seats in a vehicle using a kit obtained from Ebay for less than $25.00 per seat. They have low and high settings and off of course. They are on a ignition switched circuit so they definitely turn off when the ignition is off. I would just run battery to the seats, screw that spicing in to the truck, you're just asking for complications. On the vehicle I upgraded the heated seats were tired into timers and other "safeguards". For decades power seats and heated seats didn't need to much over sophistication, when the key was off the heat was off, the seats were on battery. It worked just fine.
