That was never mentioned in the thread, but certainly adds to the need to measure from leaf-backing plate to ensure the rear diff was installed correctly.

Yeah, his original post (before edit) didn't say he had new wheels either :dunno:

He pm'd me.

I took it in to where I had the wheels and lift installed and they measured how far out all the wheels stuck out and made sure the stamp for the offset was correct and they said it was and showed me the stamps. They also told me the tires all line up but I got home and measured and they don’t line up. Makes me think the installer was just making it m leaf-backing plate to ensure the rear diffup and lazy to look underneath. It’s actually the front passenger side that is off. It doesn’t stick out as much. Maybe 3/4 of an inch difference. I am taking it to Les Schwab on Saturday to have them look at alignment etc. So we will see. Any suggestions? I’m kind of thinking the installer was not honest when he said they all measured the same because you can even tell with just doing a visual. It was never in a accident or anything. I don’t get it.

The track of the front wheels is supposed to be wider than the rear.

This was PM'ed to me too.

OP: just post in the thread rather than PMing people specific details that aren't included in the thread so folks don't waste their time.  Let us know what the new shop says.

Well I took it in to Les Schwab today to have it looked at. They said axles, wheels and everything looked fine. They also said maybe gm newer trucks no has axles shifting for some reason but they said it all looked straight and to take it into the dealer. When I showed them the tire that stocked out they could see it. But after and during there inspection they said the tires were sticking out evenly. Kind of strange. So I took pictures when I got home. It’s in my driveway with a slope. Picture is rear driver side and rear passenger side.

Back tires on my '18 Silverado look even, even with me standing slightly off to one side.

Well, I finally found the problem. I took it to a body shop yesterday and had them measure the back frame. Turns out there is a 1 inch difference and it is because the differential is off. They told me to take it back to the installers and have them move it over 1/2 inch and that will solve the problem.
Thanks guys for all your answers and advice!

Measure the distance from the rear leaf spring to the hub backing plate, it should be the same on both sides.  If not, the differential/axle has shifted.

You're welcome. 😉

Okay, I got RC lift put on vehicle and the differential is off an inch making the rear passenger tire stick out an inch. I took it back to the installers to have them move the differential over a half inch to fix it and they said it’s not possible because the pins to the blocks won’t line up. Anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions?

do the blocks appear to be centered on the axle saddles and with the springs? if every thing there looks aligned then the springs may be twisting from the added height. you may want to loosen the u-bolts to make sure the pins are in the sockets. if the spring center bolts were broken the axle would shift front to back and will throw the steering off. how was it possible to do an alignment with the axle off center? if the installer did the "alignment" and said there's nothing wrong take it somewhere else, have them fix it and try to get the installer to reimburse you or take them to court if its their screw up. I have seen blocks that are not solid and have other pockets than the alignment sockets that the pin can fit in so that's where I would start

again measure from the spring, block, and axle both sides to the backing plate or caliper bracket should give you an idea of if its installed correctly . the measurements should be the same if the installation is correct ,if it is then you have a spring issue to deal with

No, Les Schwab did the alignment so they would have seen that the axle was off center. I had a body shop measure and he said the only thing that was off was the differential and it needed to be moved 1/2 inch over to correct it. But they cannot move it because then the pins won’t line up to the blocks. I also had another shop inspect the suspension and they said everything with the lift was fine.
