2012 2500hd 6.0 with 3:73 gears ok to plow with????

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at a replacement truck for plowing. I used to have a 2011 2500hd 6.0 and had the 4:10 gears. I never had an issue plowing other then it was a crew cab and had a long wheelbase. This one I'm looking at is a regular cab but has 3:73 gears. I also have a sander that will be on the back. I'm just hung up on this, am i just crazy?

If you really want to get in the weeds look at the tow rating difference between the trucks. It’s probably not that much difference. So the stress is probably the same especially since you’re tires will spin if you try to push too much.

sounds fine to me , other than adding a tru-track diff or funky factory G80 diff

could try using the same diameter tire for the rear that comes on the base model 1500's, they are smaller diameter, so this will increase your torque a bit, but throw off the speedo
