This is very interesting!!  Also look at what would have happened if we kept our production here in US instead of relying on Russia!  This is what I've said all along! We need to worry about the UNITED STATES!!

This video is stupid... oil from shale costs about $30 to $70 more. When oil was $30, American shale drillers DID NOT MAKE MONEY while Canadians could easily extract from sand at a cost of roughly $10 per barrel. Do you think Americans would keep drilling if there were no revenue? In 2010, there was a waiting list for equipment, then in 2016, oil crashed and the equipment was being sold for pennies on the dollar.

And it's [INSERT PRESIDENT NAME]'S FAULT!

Obama even REQUIRED that drillers purchasing land must drill, not just sit on it which manipulated the commodity prices. But, nooo, it's his fault!

So you're arguing with a BILLIONARE business man, who obviously knows more than you!!! HENCE WHY HE IS A BILLIONARE, OK!!   WAKE UP!

Like I stated we need to take care of the North American continent/United States.  Keystone alone would have produced more oil last year than what we imported from Russia.  Open you EYES and MIND my friend.  Get rid of the trash and FORCE politicians and others to keep us independent!

This is going to affect so many people and its so sad!  I just told my wife to speak to her boss to see if she can stay working at home instead of 70 miles round trip daily!  Right now she is home Mondays/Fridays, and drives Tues/Wed/Thurs!

If gas gets to $7 per gallon here in Iowa like it is now in some places in California. We truck owners might have to drive 40 mph to keep our trucks on the road!   Such IDIOCRACY!

We have two Harvard-educated economists, one's a Liberal, one's a Conservative, who you gonna believe? If one's a cop, bet he's probably more honest than a criminal! Putin is a billionaire too! Don't you realize they are the ones controlling the commodity prices.

Keystone stood to benefit Canada far more than the Americans! In fact, that was the very reason why we removed the ban on selling our oil overseas, and suddenly TC Energy (TC standing for TransCANADA) no longer wanted a part of it. If we kept the ban, Canadians would win this one and laugh at our faces,. feeding us much cheaper CANADIAN oil. Remember Enron? My bosses turned into billionaires fooling people! And you want to think they became billionaires the honest way?

Again you're missing the point.

Listen to this and see how much oil reserves we have here that isn't even tapped yet!

Yes, this is BIDEN"S Fault.....you're ignorant if you think otherwise

I see you completely missed the part when I said it was not profitable when oil was at $60 between 2015 and 2020. It takes forever to set up the drill rigs. Interest for Keystone XL was faltering, and even TransCANADA no longer wanted it, giving it to the Canadian government.

I am not going to discuss this any further.

Thank you.

I'm at a loss as to how knowing who’s fault it is would help me get better gas mileage on my trip.

I drove 204 miles last weekend at 75 mph with my 2019 T1 5.3 4X4 and the dash said I got 22.6,  the calculator read 22.4.

very few flat stretches,  but no real big hills either.   BTW,   if it matters the truck has 63K on the odometer.

I'm actually a moderate, I'm pro-gun and pro-oil, but I see so much bullshit, especially when people blame Biden for something he has no control over. It's like blaming Biden for the Flint water situation not improving.. it's Michigan's responsibility, not the EPA. It's like having the FBI patrol our highways for speeders. I do know oil very well, I know plenty of options traders and I get oil royalties, and believe me, it's them who decide the prices, not Biden.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. You do have to take delivery of the oil at the end of the futures contact. There is a reason why in 2020 oil went 40 negative, *All of the storage houses were full*. Every last one. Yes, speculation does drive things slightly, but this "future demand" speculation is due to a combination of inflation (thanks fed) and the admin basically telling speculators for the next 4 years future oil supply will be restricted.

Yes, I guess I am cherry picking.  I’m trying to see if I can maximize my mileage on an upcoming trip. It will be almost all highway miles and the entire trip will be about 2500 miles. A very rough calculation yields that if I do 2mpg better, I’ll save about $50.  Nothing to get excited about but this trip I have no time constraints (retired) and no reason to hurry.  So, why not.

Weight and elevation change are major drivers too. It's not the most fun, but if you want to save 10% (~2mpg), you'll need draft behind a semi the whole way. You might get a half an mpg by taping your hood seems, and blocking off half your grille. It's stupid, I know. But that's about the best way you are going to see any actual improvements without some more major modifications. Oh, and limit the AC use. Meaning turn the A/C actually off, it will probably give you a couple of tenths on a cooler day. Those are about the easiest solutions you are going to have.

The whole time, supply was fine. Yet, oil fluctuates from 40 negative to 120 positive. Like I said, traders decide the prices, even those with no intention of purchasing the oil. Obama wanted to ban them but Republicans didn't want that.

Okay, I will get out of this thread, this was about gas mileage, not oil. I'm not a trader and I also agree they should be banned.

You don't know what you are talking about. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/20/business/oil-prices.html#:~:text=Prices went negative — meaning that,no place to store it.

It doesn't fluctuate between -40 and 120. Futures contacts actually reduce the swings in the market. It's how the onion market became so screwed up.

Who bought all that oil in the first place? Oh, yes, the people who had NO INTENTION of using the oil. When I said 120, that was today's oil futures. It is laughable to say that traders reduce the swings in the market. Isn't it $120 right now? And are we in war? No, that's WTI.. WTI is $120 per barrel. Ukraine is 8,000 miles away. W..T..F.. !?!?

I'm also setting you on ignore, don't want to listen to your ignorant drivel. Good bye.
