Oil Drain Plug

Recommended Posts

I ordered a new drain plug (5.3 2019) because mine was becoming a little rusty.   So I ordered 1 new plug and 1 washer.   But when I got the plug it seems like it comes with a blue washer already in place.   The old plug only used the blue washer.  So am I using only the 1 blue washer only?  Or was there originally a blue and black washer used together and some how got lost during my free oil changes?  Watched a few YT videos but couldn’t make out what people had, 1 or both washers.   I know for the oil filter you have to be careful not to double gasket.   So I assume the same rule apply with the oil drain plug but I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything.  As you can tell, I’m stating my self-oil-changing journey.  Never done it before.  4A98960A-17A3-42FD-B867-C41A3D8FFA74.thumb.jpeg.30080e1115ab022cbf8335bb8b54ce86.jpegDE0B24D6-B9A4-4284-A44B-EE3ED885BDA7.thumb.jpeg.5a11ceff0540aa2f22c158e6220f5940.jpeg

You never stack gaskets.  The black gasket you received is good for the tool box in case you damage the blue one.
