I have a 2020 Silverado 3500 diesel with about 25,000 miles on it that started having transmission issues with the reduced engine power warning along with the transmission shuttering and then refusing to shift gears.  All of that would go away when the truck was turned off and restarted.  I took it to the dealership expecting a warranty repair.

They finally got it in and I missed the call today but the service rep left a message and said that there were some transmission sensor issues but they also found significant water in the transmission and he said that that problem was not covered by warranty.

First off how the heck does water get into a transmission that doesn't even have a dipstick.  And secondly how is this not covered under warranty?  I am the only person to drive this truck and I've never driven it through more than a puddle.  I am hot to say the least and unless someone on here can point me to a mistake that I made causing this I'm going to be in as many peoples ear tomorrow until they agree to cover this repair.

Spoke with the service rep this morning and he told me the only way water can get in the transmission is through the breather tube on the very top of the transmission and that I must have submerged the truck and that's why it has so much water.  He kinda screwed himself though because he also told me that the differentials also have breather tubes on the top and that the differential fluid still looked brand new.  I asked him how it's possible to submerge the transmission. But not the differentials which are lower on the truck.

Mind you I've never driven this truck through more than a puddle so this idea that it was submerged is a joke.

This is a state owned work truck and I'm pretty sure they were expecting me to roll over and pay for the repairs without question because it's for the state but that's not happening.

He said he would talk to the service

guys more and get back to me.  I can tell you now that they won't stop hearing from me until the cover the repairs.

I agree, he screwed himself by saying that. But anyone that would have thought the problem through should have said something about the differentials.

You would have had water in the cab too if the water got to the top of the transmission because it sits pretty far up inside the transmission tunnel.

    • The "source" a woman, that writes the article is not a far right person. She's pretty well known "car person". She writes her own stuff, but yes it is initially posted under the Blaze, because they purchased the right to post it first, before it is posted on her own sites. It doesn't mean the info is any less valid. the article itself is not political It's not meant to discount any current actions in the Iran   Only posted the link because that's what has to be done to be legal to post the article. The Blaze is not a site I use. Lauren Fix's page pointed me there and I have to use a bypass method to look at the article since I'm not about to join the site. I've posted articles over the years from the Lefty sites, seems you didn't have a problem with that.   But you do you, keep looking at everything only through left/right lenses.   The 3 or 4 of you that participate in the some of the comments had ample chance to read everything. Other members that don't care for it, send in comments, because as they will point out, political talk is discouraged. Both "sides" complain
    • Would be cool if someone made something most people would like.   Like a plug in tune that is to the end users desire minus messing with the throttle petal factory settings. Sport, economy and WFOT.
    • I don’t. The source is a far-right fake news site perpetuated by Glenn Beck. Funny how you clean up political posts and then regurgitate garbage from politically tainted sites.
    • Not a distraction. You miss the point of the article. It's not just for today's situation. Another way AI is being used and it may explain some of the prices changes when there is no apparent event to cause a 25 cent jump out of nowhere, only to immediately, the next day, begin to drop by 2 cents and so on. These situations were happening before the Iran thing fired off.   I used to be in the retail gas/service business. Pretty much a $1 increase in WTI would increase my price by maybe .10 cents. Now WTI can go down and retailers can get hit with a .35 cent increase out of nowhere.   I thought it was interesting read, since this is being used on all products we buy now
