2022 Silverado high pitch whine off Idle

I just leased a 2022 Silverado 1500 2.7 liter turbo.    I'm trying to figure out what this engine sounds like.   I have a high pitch whine when ever I'm driving.  goes up and down with RPM, but it stays constant even when I am cruising.   Sounds like s high pitch cricket.   The sales guy said that's just the turbocharger and they all sounds like that, but I drove a different truck with the same engine and it does not have that noise.   I had the dealer shop look at at and turns out there is a bulletin on it   that points to the balance shift gear noise.   They suggested because it's so new put a few hundred miles on it and the whine might resolve itself.    Anyone else have this issue?  The bulletin is PIP5887.

Interesting cause my buddies 19'  6..2 had this whining and a few months later they replaced his trans  . 

 

I also know the 10A can be little noise , even on the Fords you can hear it.  Just my thoughts

Well no, I can really only hear my turbo spool "whine" when I tip into the gas.

Sounds exactly like mine, Only I don't hear it while coasting.

yeah, the coasting noise is what the bulletin is about.   It only has 150miles on it and the dealer is hoping after 400+ the coasting issue will resolve it self.   They said if it doesn't they won't leave me in a truck that is bummer to drive.   Good to know that the coast whine is not really normal.

Update - Confirmed that my whine is NOT the turbo.  In the Silverado's that turbo isn't really suppose to be heard.  This whine is from the drivetrain, Chevy says they are clos to a solution and "Don't worry" it's a normal operation.   Whines like that usually are followed up by a major failure so I think Chevy is doing a damage control right now.   If you have this whine get it documented by the dealer.  They will need to confirm it's coming from down by the oil pan.   This is NOT normal and they know it.

Can someone move this to the trouble shooting section? 

 

Whines aren't always followed by major failures, so many vehicles over the years we have owned at some point have some sort of whine with no failure. It is good to get documented, but no need to try and cause a panic with assumptions or speculations. Just get it documented and wait and see...

Mine does it too. 2022 2.7 turbo. High pitch noise in cabin. Even out of gear at idle. Follows RPM and sounds just like your audio recording. It reminds me of tapping a radio’s power cable to wrong line and it picks up the alternator hum thru the speakers.  I find it interesting that it does it at idle or cruise. Dealer said it was the turbo but I wouldn’t think it would do it unless giving it some gas if it was the turbo…?  I now have 2,500 miles and still doing it. Maybe a little quieter but that could be wishful thinking.

I have a 2023 Silverado with the 2.7L and I have the same issue and dealer says GM engineers are aware of the problem and working on a solution.  I have it documented, but it is annoying to even drive the truck, so I have a good looking $50,000 garage trophy with 587 miles on it.  I have owned a chevy since 1987 but if they dont fix this, it may be my last.

22 2.7HO 8spd with the same identical sound. So annoying. Have over 5K miles and it's still doing it.

      It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t mandated outrageous fuel mileage standards. It does very little for the consumer. It adds cost. Back during Covid there was a chip shortage. They gave a rebate for your truck if it didn’t have the chip to turn on cylinder deactivation. It was 50$ because at best you may see 1/2 a mile increase per gallon. Splitting hairs each fuel mileage trick wasn’t mandated. The government doesn’t do the engineering work and say use this until it’s already in use and they like it. The fuel mileage was mandated. And those add ons the results. There’s a mandate and they are the results.

      It was never mandated.  Ever.    Automakers were incentivized to install it by getting CAFE credits to help with their vehicle fleet fuel economy scores.  They were being handed money/CAFE credits to install it.  Which is NOT a mandate.       The current admin removed the incentives that were behind them installing it.

      My brand new 2007 Silverado's wax frame was rust from end to end partway through it's SECOND winter here in MA. That stuff is completely useless.
