I’ve already prepared myself for at least 6-8 weeks to get shipped.  If it comes in before then, great.  But I would bet it will be summer before I see it.  Shouldn’t be this way but seems like everything we get now days takes longer than it should.

Also, this good news - it means Jettech’s new truck will come relatively fast once he orders it!

Thick as thieves I see you and @Pryme are.

So remember when so many ppl didn’t like the front of the 2020+ Chevy?

can anyone honestly say this Ford front looks better? I’ll use my truck since it’s also a black bumper and grill white base truck.

Only recently took a good look at the WT looks. To me it’s the best lookin trim

You are correct there.  I couldn't find one to save my life last summer but I was able to find the next best thing and that's the Custom model.  But I do agree with you.  I love the simplicity and just all around rugged look of them.

I do like the WT trims as well especially if you put some black aftermarket wheels and a flatbed on them.  But I guess I’m spoiled and want a few more of the creature comforts in the higher trims on my daily driver.  If I ever get rid of my 15 I will probably just go with a WT/Pro next time because it will be solely for work and not my daily driver.

Well I got the new AT4 last weekend.  Been so busy this week didn't even have a chance to drive it much.  Basically drove it home from the dealership and parked it all week.  We had some stormy weather and I didn't want to take the chance of getting damage the first week!  I liked the 2023 and had zero issues with it (14,****** miles) but I will tell you this 2024 is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned.  It's everything and then some what I read.  The interior in the 23 was fine.  The 24 is just a step change.  Just like when I went from an 08 LMM to my 2015 LML.  I thought at the time I'd never own a nicer pickup.  Still love the 15 and will keep it, but the 24 is way more refined.  Literally to the point it's honestly too much tech and creature comforts.  I've never felt like I couldn't take a pickup off road to work in, but I'm contemplating this one.  Probably good they kept the Pro with older interior for those situations where guys need more of a work truck.

I'll give some quick thoughts after only 250 miles of driving:

Pro's:

Interior is amzaing!

10 speed is for real.  I cannot wait to hook up to a trailer.  The transmission grade brakes like my LML.  Buttery smooth and seems to be in the right gear.  The transmission is "somewhat" busy but I never really notice it.  Never saw the trans temp go over 165.

Exterior is the best looking pickup on the market bar none.  The new Ford is ugly as sin in my opinion.

Technology is out of the world

Fuel mileage seems to be up a tick from the 6 speed.  Averaged 17 on the trip home (65-70 mph).  It took my 23 about 10K miles to break in so I expect this one could hit 18 highway in time.  To me that's amazing.

Cameras are amazing.  Can see everything crystal clear.  There is even a washer on the front camera!

Con's

This thing sits up high.  Maybe it's because of the 20" wheels but I"m 6'4 and I almost need steps to get in.  My wife almost had to use a step ladder and she's 5'7.  First thing need to do is get some steps installed!

I sort of like where they put the trailer brake control but the light and 4wd switch on the left hand side are in blind spots.  I don't like that at all.  Honsetly can't even see them.  GM should have put a little more thought into positioning.

Already have one strange noise coming from behind the dash.  Almost like a faint fan noise.  Gonna take it back next weekend to the dealer but that's always the fear with a new model comes out.

Honestly there isn't much to dislike with this one (other than the price).  As I get a few more miles on it towing I'll update but I can guarantee already it will be better.  This transmission is going to be a game changer.  Really no reason to go diesel now unless towing all the time or in the mountains.  I'm in flat country.  The 6 speed was fine for me, this will be better.  I think GM is gonna pick up some market share with this refresh.

If you are on the fence about upgrading I would take a hard look.  Only 250 miles so time will tell but I am very pleased so far.

She’s a beaut, Clark.

the one thing I don’t like on the 24’s is the light and 4wd switches both down low and next to each other, like you said. I like them up high where they are on our old lumber wagon 20-23 trucks ha

@Doodle beautiful truck! I have the same fan-like noise behind the dash. I've noticed only when the ac is on. I had it in my 21 GMC as well?

Also, have you noticed the allison transmission has a little whine to it? Lmk what the dealer says on your fan noise. I just turned 1k miles on the odometer so I'm changing the oil this weekend and towing next weekend.

Ha ha.  Again nothing wrong with the 23 at all.  My issue all along was I had ordered a 22 AT4 in July of 21 and it never got picked up.  Knew the refresh was coming and decided I would wait.  However, needed to put a pickup on service for my business so bought the 23 knowing it wouldn't keep it too long.  No way would have thought it would show up this fast.  We'll see how the 24 does and I'll update when I can.

The light switch you literally cannot see at all because the steering wheel blocks it. I realize they are auto lights but it's a dumb place to put it regardless.

Best way I can explain it is it's like when the fan speed in on low and you have the vents shut off.  Like a restricted vent sound.  Faint, but it's there.  Here's the super weird part.  I only hear it at idle and as soon as I hit the throttle it goes away.  I think that's why I never noticed it when I drove it home from the dealer.

So I picked mine up on Friday (HC 3500 Gas).  The one thing that is bothering me, more than not having a diesel..lol, is the noise I hear when the A/C is running.  Might be the same sound you're referring to.  If I turn off the A/C, noise goes away.  I chalked it up to I can hear more things now that I don't have a diesel but perhaps there is something more to it.

As far as the rest of the truck, so far so good.  Not diesel power but I'm good with it, transmission shifts smoothly and I didn't notice any 'hunting' whatsoever.

I'll need to drive it some more to really nail down a comparison to the diesel and formulate an opinion..The A/C noise is ANNOYING though.

Aftermarket wheels/tires going on today!

    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
