2023 2500hd 6.6 l8t gas lifter ticking with misfire

Engine has about 1927 miles and the engine is ticking loudly on the passenger side of the block, sounds like lifter tick, and you can feel it missing a little bit while in the cab with it idling.  Will take it to the dealer next week and see what they say, have to drive it for now to get to and from work until then.  Thought these 6.6 l8t's were solid and bulletproof engines without lifter issues like the afm/dfm engines?  I cant find any reports of lifter issues with my own research but here i am suffering lifter issues on this brand new 6.6 l8t truck.

I'm wondering if this is a lifter problem or something on the electrical side to that cylinder that could be an easy fix.

Im wondering the same.  One thing i have noticed is the ticking is continuous and very audible after the trucks been driven.  Once it sits and cools down, the tick is intermittent.  So i dont know.  Maybe it's the infamous LS lifter tick and its normal?  But it does feel like theres a skip/slight misfire

Sorry to hear about your issue. Its unfortunate for you but based on all the info that is available it doesn't appear it is a systemic issue. Like all things man made/assembled defects are a given. Warranty will handle it and you will undoubtedly have many trouble free miles afterword. It sure is inconvenient but its one of those 1st world problems we all have to go through at aome point! Maybe, but wouldnt it be more continuous and not intermittent?

Cracked exhaust manifold and/or loose or broken exhaust studs sound similar and the noise is inconsistent as the exhaust heats and cools.

That is true.  I didnt think of that.  Its not throwing any codes or check engine lights.

I was thinking the exact same thing.  There have been reports of the exhaust manifolds warping and leaking.  That will always cause a ticking sound that will get quieter as the engine warms up.  If it ticks loudly when first started and starts to quiet down a bit as the engine gets hot.  Sounds like a cracked or perhaps bad exhaust manifold gasket to me.  I've never read anyone talking about bad lifters.  But have read a few that had a problem with the exhaust gaskets and manifold but very rare.  Good luck and please keep us updated.

No ticks on a cold start. Only happens after its been driven and then parked after several miles of driving.  Have been noticing it starts weird too after driving then parking then starting again after 10 min or so, like an abnormal start its hard to describe but its not normal.

That is strange.  I hope you get it resolved and let us all know what the problem was.

Will do. Wont be for a while because of work and life but when i can get to the dealer (a little over an hour drive one way) i will post an update.  If it gives me a check engine light or does anything way abnormal i will go a lot sooner.

My 2024 6.6 2500 HD with 28000 miles on April 24th 2026 developed a lifter tick, took to dealer April 27th on the way turned to what sounded like piston rod going through block, pulled over side of road had towed rest of the way. Week later dealer said #1 rod bearing spun and has metal now in oil, still under warranty but waiting on Chevy engineering to approve new engine.

didn't expect this on a truck bought brand new!
