Does anyone know what these two slots are for, underneath the center console?

These slots/holders seem Very common on many makes and models, but I don't know what they're intended for?

They are very similar in size and shape and I'm very curious if anyone knows what they're for exactly.

Or even, what do you use them for?!

I use it to hold reg/insurance papers. Some same it was a phone holder although I dont see how...

I had these in my 2018 Silverado. I clipped a small notepad into the upper pocket. Don't know about the lower.
